Wow...just wow, I lol'd hard at your summary of NISA. I am not against you in your thought process, but without them I don't get the game at all. Sure I could buy the JPN version and end up not knowing half of what's going on, but then I am not getting the story or characters. I need to accept that NISA is what it is and I have to keep throwing money at them when they localize a game I like.
Heck I had a friend who used to work there, he did QC on about 3 games I think, this is how I ended up getting a free copy of some games too. Seeing as how he did QC for so many hours, once he got his own copy of the game, he was tired of playing it so I got it from him.

I may have been a little too harsh earlier. I still buy their games but I can't stand their sense of "adding humor". They don't stay true to the original game's dialogue and they feel the necessity to add their own characterization. The original game already has characters that already have voices and personalities. Localization companies just need to give us accurate translation of the text and that's it. It's not about what they think the character is like; it's about how the character actually is. My philosophy is: "fuck with the original game as little as possible". Also, I understand the differences between liberal and literal translations. I realize that 100% literal wouldn't sound right but 100% liberal isn't good either.

This is one of the reasons I'm learning Japanese. I hate how everybody is "okay" with having the original creation altered. I hate how we all have to be grateful to localization companies even when they do shitty jobs. I always feel "half excited" when Japanese games get announced for the west. This is because I know that it'll probably get fucked up in some way (no JPN audio, shitty scripts, removed content, ect.).


I went on another rant again. Disregard all that and carry on.

Naw that's okay and I do totally agree with you, but I look past it in the sense that I can't play the game if they don't localize it. There's no way I can learn all the Japanese/Kanji I'll need to know to play these games and know everything that's going on.
You rant, I actually remember talking to my friend and some of this present/past coworkers at said company and they were telling me a "hilarious" story about how they took a "liberal" stand on a translation and made it sound better/more appealing to "Westerners"... I so wanted to punch those guys.

Looks cool, certainly does kind of remind me of Neptunia. Although I wonder if it will be localized.

OK, I just looked up a little more info on this (also, Ammy, the chick echo is talking about is named Harler). I don't know what to feel about this game now.

On one hand, we have Yoshitaka Amano doing concept art for this, and Nobuo Uematsu composing. At the very least, the game will look and sound very pretty.

On the other hand... the main writer is Toshiki Inoue, the guy best known for writing the plots of the following Kamen Rider series:

Decade

The problem with this? The ones mentioned here have lacklustre plots and characters (hell, just recently I hear people say it's perfectly fine to drop KR Hibiki after ep 29), with Kiva and Decade especially being considered two of the worst Kamen Riders ever. Granted, he also wrote about half of KR Kabuto, which I hear is a good beginner series for the franchise, but I'm still expecting the overall plot of FFF to be a little stupid.

I only rant when the JPN voice acting is removed or censorship occurs... or shit like "Esty Dee" and "crumb my cookies". Censorship and the removal of the original voice acting are much more serious offenses though. I actually can deal with NISA quality "translations" but that still won't stop me from getting angry about how shitty they are.

Surprisingly, I don't hate NISA as much as you think I do. I'll be buying The Witch and The Hundred Knight in March and I'm going to start The Guided Fate Paradox soon. I hate to say it but they always keep the JPN voices in which is critical to me. They usually don't censor stuff either but I guess Mugen Souls still happened.

They're still motherfucking faggots though. I think it's a combination of their stupid Prinny Bomb news letters and their underage fan-base (the type of people that love using "kawaii", "moe", "XD", "dood", etc).

If you want, I could rant about Atlus and their retarded policy of "English dubs only" (most of the time). Seriously, why in gods name would I play Conception II with English dubs?

I get you're point, but its still hilarious how you always have something to say to such extend. Btw I recently started Paradox, its okay, but could be better, then again I wasn't that big of a Disgaea fan so maybe that's why. (We can discuss this more in the actual thread for the game)

I have a hard time condensing what I want to say when it comes to topics like this. I'm also an expert at whining and complaining.

Just started GFP a few hours ago. I like it so far. I kind of wish the generic attacks had unique animations though. It feels weird punching people with guns and swords.
