Is it just me or does the gameplay just look like FFXVIII.... I am interested as an RPG fan, but the gameplay I seen so far really hasn't impressed me enough. It could be good I just don't see it yet.

XCX's system looks like it will be an improvement on that in some ways, but not drastically different.
I'm still very excited for the game, although the narrative in Monolith Soft games don't really work well with self-insert customizable characters.

It could be good I just don't see it yet.Like Zero said, play or watch some Xenoblade Chronicles videos. I wouldn't really judge the battle system from the first 20 minutes of the game. It gets a lot more intricate and deeper the further you get into the game. Xenoblade Chronicles also had a mechanic that allowed you to see into the future, so I'm expecting something of that kind in this game.
The original Xenoblade was an amazing game, so I highly recommend it. Good luck finding a cheap copy these days thought.
