I'm a big fan of giving nicknames for pokemon. I would like to hear your nicknames
The last pokemon I nicknamed, was my Wobberjacky (Wobbuffet Jabberwocky)

I don't really name certain pokemon after a certain joke, I name them like this:
>Catch a pokemon
>Open Steam/Skype
>"Who was I talking to/playing games with recently..."
>Name get
So far, my notable aces have been:
Anon the Pidgeotto
Mahboi the Arbok
Spaghett the Lanturn
Joshy the Talonflame
I play with Nuzlock rules (meaning if a pokemon dies, its dead forever), so its actually really sad when an ace dies...
And I don't throw around the "ace" tittle; they earned it.

I can't fit "Larrys Fiesta Party on The House" into the all spaces. With that I have trouble finding names.

Last Pokemon I nicknamed was the female Pikachu I caught playing Pokemon X.
I named her "Sachiko", after the antagonist of Corpse Party, mainly because they share the same voice actress.

I name them real-world names that tend to correlate with the pokemon in someway.
Charles the Char(mander)(meleon)(izard)
Richard the Pikachu/Raichu
Balboa the Geodude/Graveler/ Golem
Allen the Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam
So on and so forth... I'm boring sorry

My current party on Emerald is as follows:
Blaziken, Shack; a reference to the Shamo chicken which it's apparently based on.
Shiny Loudred/Exploud, Whisper; because delicious irony.
Gardevoir, Angela; since this particular one is female and Gardevoir's based on a Guardian Angel (among other things), I thought it was fitting.
Lairon, Hevee'metul; because it's a rhino made of metal.
Vibrava, Dragonfly; pretty obvious one this one.
Lombre, Lilly; it's female and it has a lilly pad on its head.
Generally my nicknames will be a reference to what they're based on or other external references. For example:
Sometimes I might even get lazy and just use a piece of their names;
I could go on but I think you get the idea.

Generally my nicknames will be a reference to what they're based on or other external references. For example:
- Pidgeys I will always nickname Strawberry, because of that one NPC in Violet City in Pokemon GSC who owns a Pidgey with the same nickname. Plus I like strawberries.
- Xatu I name Totem, because it's based on a totem pole
- Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu will always be named Sparky
- Groudon is named Rog; before Ruby and Sapphire was released, I saw prerelease gameplay images R/S, and one of them was Groudon in battle with the same nickname. To keep up the theme, I also nickname Kyogre Reg and Rayquaza Ray.
- Geodude/Graveler/Golem, Derek. A G/S/C Pokemon Handbook I used to own had screenies of someone who used a Geodude/Graveler with that nickname.
- Tentacool/Tentacruel, Testacruel
- Raikou is always named Raiju, Entei named Vincent and Suicune Aurora, its pokedex species.
Sometimes I might even get lazy and just use a piece of their names;
- Eeveelutions: Flareon Flare, Jolteon Jolt, Vaporeon Vapour, Umbreon Umbra, Espeon Esper and Eevee EV. The same would also apply to the newer ones if I'd bothered to get them on the newer games; Leafeon Leaf, Glaceon Glacius and Sylveon Sylph
- Legendary Birds: Articuno Uno, Zapdos Dos and Moltres Tres
- Hitmons: Hitmonchan Chan, Hitmonlee Lee, Hitmontop Top
I could go on but I think you get the idea.

I know both myself and my friend have a habit of naming (or trying to) name most of our pokemon as LoL characters. Usually ends up with mixed results.
Geodude = Malphite
Nine-Tailes = Ahri
Rattata = Teemo

Here's a few that I've been using since the first and second gen games.
Raze = Cyndaquil
Nikola = Pikachu (it's fairly obvious why)
Darwin = Eevee (again, obvious)
Gene = Lickitung (see above)
Mary = Mareep (after the nursery rhyme)

Emboar = Zhu Ba Jie
Infernape = Sun Wu Kong
Everything else, I just match the first letter of their final evolution and I try to associate the first name that comes to mind which is gender applicable.

World Warrior
Squirtle - Shellshock (The first Pokemon movie, I remember the girl who owned the Blastoise, nicknamed it Shellshocker, and throughout most of the series, Shellshock was the only thing that could fit as a nickname.)
Lugia - Aero (Because of the move he has, Aero Blast)
A lot of the other nicknames are pretty self-explanatory (e.g. Pidgot - Sky, Froakie - Jutsu, Eevee - Evo, etc.)
