Persona 3 Vs. Persona 4

I've played P4 but not P3, though I read up a shitload about it. From what I can tell, P4 is a sequel (kind of) that builds on everything P3 did, so its safe to assume P4 is better. Plot wise, I say P4 is better even though P3 is more epic with its "entire world at stake? aspect, mostly becauseSpoiler:
I think you missed something while you played the games. The true enemy of P3 is unstoppable and can never be defeated. P4's enemy could be deafeated and was, both of them. After you fight Margaret and win in P4 you should have had a better picture of this. I'm guessing you didn't play P3 FES.
I'll say this:
Persona 3
Persona 3 FES
Persona 3 Portable
Persona 4....that's it.
People were willing to buy and play the same game 3 times. Can't argue with that.

However, I disagree with the reasoning that P3 is better because it has 2 more games than P4. Why? Because P3 had to redo their game TWICE just to get it right. P4 which learned from P3's mistakes compounded on everything that was already epic to create a masterpiece of astounding proportions. Overall, as I said before, both games have their strengths and weaknesses. P4 in my opinion is funnier and had the better gameplay while P3 stands with the better plot.

Tru dat, P4 is teh best. I gots a question now. who would win in a fight, a lvl 99 Minato or a lvl 99 devil survivor protag, with their best personas/demons?

What I tried to point out by sayin P3 was practically re-released three times in a short amount of time from each other is how popular/better known is was, kinda like Final Fantasy VII from the final fantasy series.
As for Naoto sayin P3 had to "redo" itself just to get it right. I can't really agree with that. There was nothing wrong with P3's gameplay. Yes, P4 had better gameplay as to it's battle system but, that shouldn't make P3's gameplay to be branded as bad.
@MentallyUnstable
I've never played Devil Survivor but, unless the MC of Devil Survivor had something like or better then Minato's Fusion Spells I think Minato will always come out on top. That goes for even Seta of P4 too.
Fusion Spells
Just check the last attack if don't want to see them all.

in term of story persona 2 has the best story among other series
but persona 4 is the most enjoyable to play with, there's no need to make a new version of it cause it's already perfect as it is.. So i'd go for persona 4

Bah, I must say Armageddon is by far the best move, but Hell the trouble you have to do to get it if you're not aiming to complete a compendium is quite tedious.

I myself prefer P3 for story, and P4 for gameplay. P4 was also a tad easier, even on hard mode...More like it didn't fuck you over. In P3 the game would fuck you over so hard, especially on The Answer. In P4, whenever you see the game over screen, it's not because the game was cheap on you, but because you messed up.

now that you say it that way, it makes a lot more sense...either way, angsty story gets my vote :3

lol i get what you mean.
Sometimes because of P3's AIs my team would get annihiliated because of friendly fire just after my teammates cast their strongest spells at an enemy with a reflect barrier. P4 apparently saw how shitty the AI was so they decided to actually let the player take control.

Goddamn, that made chills go up my spin. To be honest, I don't know who would win after seeing that, since I never played P3, but it would most likely be Minato if the DeSu protag doesn't spam drain (which he will LOL). Let me rephrase that then, who would win in a fight, Minato with all of his party members and what he used to seal that immortal thing or the DeSu protag that becomes the king of Bels and has god and the angels on his side, and they both use only the most powerful persona/demon available to them in their games?

I don't know how you guys played the game for that to happen. My team never did anything stupid or anything to set me back like that. I've played P3 three time, P3 FES three times, and P3P twice and with all those put together I've only died 4 times in total. Twice when I faced Death (thought I could take him the second time midway through the game in my first playthrough...) in Tartarus and twice to Elizabeth. That's even when I played hard mode with all three. I Never died once with P4. Midway through P4 I mostly just attack rushed.
@MentallyUnstable
That power Minato used to seal Nyx,"The absolute end" was the power ultimate power/the power of the universe (I don't remember exactly). With that, even if Devil Survivor's MC transformed, had god on his side, and had angels he could just seal them I would think. Nyx is beyond that of a god.
Nyx, The absolute end/unbeatable
He's just an unending loop, infinite.
This is just Nyx Avatar. True Nyx is beyond even this.

Really?
It wasn't till midway into the game that I had to really concentrate on the battles. After that I just really had some buffed up persona and I had some fusion spells. It wasn't till my second playthrough that I found Armageddon. I still don't have all the fusion spells. I do now though since I had to look up that video of fusion spells to show people. Next time I play P3P I'll see what they do in more detail.

Man I should've played P3FES, but the main reason I read spoilers online instead of playing the game was because I heard that
OD: So Nyx was here since the beginning of time or was he created by the creator, which is the god I am refering to. Also, isn't the creator beyond Nyx, because he created everything? You know what? This is now a Nyx vs. the creator discussion.

Nyx is the daughter of Chaos sister of Erebus in the legend. Since the Persona world exists in a world with many different gods (including Izanami, Izanagi etc) we can assume that Nyx is a product of one of these gods. In this case Chaos I pressume. Also I am not sure if there really is a full concept of a creator in the Persona universe. P3 and P4 are in the same world and according to P4 Izanagi created everything while his stalker wife curses every human being he creates remember the 3 births for every 1 death thing. And since Izanami exists fully in P4 we can assume that Izanagi too isn't just Seta's persona, and is a full god aswell.
Lol, and I agree, Minato's death felt like a cliff hanger. It's like the game is drawing you in for the hope of his "revival".

Either you grinded an insane ammount of time between each boss battle and used a walkthrough pretty much through the whole thing or you're lying. And even then I find it very hard to believe, as the regular enemies in FES are real cheating motherfuckers. It only takes one ailment spell for the whole thing to go down the drain.
And the enemies on the later levels. It's impossible not to have been caught by a light/dark spell even once.
Also, when you face a boss that reflects one of your party's spell elements, you can't not have been caught by that. For example, Mitsuru casts a mabufula and it turns out the enemy reflects the ice element. Bam, your whole party gets hit by a bufula, ending in you killed (or near). And the worst of it all is that when you retry the battle, the AI will make the same mistake again because for them it's always the first time facing that enemy. So much rage.

I'm pretty sure there weren't any walkthroughs for P3 four days after it's release. It only took me four days to pass it. That goes for any of them. Not like it has secret items or persona. It's all there plain and simple. As for your reflect/team killing thing, like I said that has never happened to me. They've never done that. I really don't know what I did or what you guys are doing wrong.
As for light and darkness attacks, that's why I always had light and darkness persona. I did what I always to with JRPGs, I read what's there. It tells you what it can do so that never happened to me.
It's a JRPG, they aren't that different. After FFX and FFVII, my first two JRPGs I haven't died once in any of them since. Never died in Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, FFVIII, FFIX, FFXII, Disaea or any other. I do grind in Disgaea though.

^ you sir, have my respect for going through FF VII, X, and XII, I couldn't do it myself...couldn't get into the game for some reason :/ (this was fairly recently, couldn't stand the "Lego" people in VII...or the graphics in general...
