Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver

I kind of doubt that. There are thousands upon thousands of people who play like that. I don't believe that even a majority of them are in competitive play as anything more than for pure entertainment.Exactly. I have spent more than 3000 hours on Pokemon in my life thus far and seriously train all my Pokemon, taking care in EVs/IVs, but for nothing except entertainment.
Also, I won't say Joe-kun is wrong. We do take Pokemon too seriously when compared with the hundreds of millions of people (mostly kiddies) who play it, but still, there's a lot of us. Without doubt, in the hundreds of thousands at least.

Fear not. I've only spent about 1200 hours on Pokemon D/Pt, and those are the games that are used for online play. It's not that much.

I'm not much for the number-build systems, I pretty much just catch my favorite Pokemon and use them. (Well, I did have a brief moment of obsession with the inside numbers when began D/Pt).

People who are serious about IV/EV training enjoy it and mostly do this for actual tournament play for big cash prizes. And it's usually either a kid or some fat dude who's WAY too old to be playing the game.
... Then again, I know a guy who's 30 and still plays it, and hell, I'M 19, so I can't talk. I still think IV/EV is just a waste, though - Although it's probably because there aren't any tournaments around here for anyone to even worry about.

EV/IV training is extremely easy and anyone who complains about it is simply butthurt about losing to someone who put in the time to train their pokemon to perfection. I take my favourite pokemon, EV/IV train them, and then destroy people with "perfect teams".

I suppose that is one way of looking at it. I just simply can't bring myself to invest that much time in Pokemon. Odd really, I clocked well over 300 hours in Tales of Vesperia (and many other JRPGs for that matter,) but no way can I devote that much time and effort in Pokemon without becoming insanely bored and tired of the game.

I might try it in SS if I feel like it, but since there aren't any tournies around here, I really have absolutely no reason to - That, and I don't use the Pokemon that ever matter in these things (Gengar, etc.)
I'm not butthurt, I just hate GameFAQs fags saying they're so much better than me for doing it.

...But they are. They have better pokemon, and as such are better than you.

I really can't bring myself to like the newer Pokemon games or shows. The original series and games were awesome but they just kept adding new monsters that looked weird. How the hell am I supposed to remember over a thousand different Pokemon? I'm sure none of the kids can either.
I'm going to re-watch the original now.

I believe it was the show that ended up killing the series.Actually I'm pretty sure it helped. <.<
See how many people played the original Red/Green in Japan before the anime came out and then compare it to the numbers afterwards. I don't know about the current seasons, but I bet they actually help rack in the younger crowds.

Killing? But D/P has surpassed R/B/G in units sold, hasn't it?

R/B/G Units Sold: 31.37 million
D/P Units Sold: 16.95 million
But Pokemon is not anywhere near dying. It's still as popular as ever. Not many games nowadays can sell a quarter of what D/P sold.

Crap. I must have mistaken the units sold in Japan for the international units sold.

What I mean by the "anime kill" thing, I meant how most of the older fans have lost interest while younger generations are still being drawn. What I mean is that all the Pokemon hate that exists is due to the anime's fault I believe.

I agree that all the hate exists because of the anime.
The manga on the other hand is much better. Anyone read it?
