Rage Quitting
0
I didn't find a topic about this in the masters list so I thought I would start one. Has anyone got any stories about notable rage quits?, either you being the one to rage quit or you heard it from others.
I have a couple to start off with.
1. Recently I was playing through 'LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean' (yeah I know lol) and I got to a point where you had to fork over a crap load of currency to unlock the next cheat to gain more currency. So I purchased the item and then the game froze. So I figured "No big deal, ill just restart", but when I reloaded, not only had the bastard taken my money and not give me the reward, but it registered that I had gotten it (the item you had to purchase the cheat from had vanished) and so I could no longer unlock it. This reward is required to 100% so the only way I could unlock it is to start the game over again, losing about 20 hours of gaming. Well I raged. That's what I get for playing a game that made my console freeze more than L.A. Noire.
2. Back in the days of the old PS2 I was playing through FFX when a mate came over. He decided to have a crack at the game and accidentally deleted my 50+ hour game save. I almost raged, then I just kind of went "Oh well...".
Anyone else got any stories of rage worthy exploits?

Me playing Marvel vs Capcom 3.
I was doing ranked match trying to face someone of my skill level. I put same skill and what I get? Master fucking Lord. Thats like 11 ranks away from what I am. So I rage quitted and said fuck it for a few days.

Someone else; Got into a match in League of Legends (normal), and was paired up with my weekly random troll. At first they died in the jungle, and went around trolling, till he decided to hang back in fountain and just try to annoy us in chat while we 4v5. Till we started winning. Then he decided he didn't want us to win, so it was time to feed the other team. You know, diving into the enemy and running in circles till they kill you. Normally a death sentence, but luckily for me, I was part of a premade with 2 other people, and the other team was garbage, so we still managed to push their lanes and win teamfights. About 30 minutes in, the Troll failing at trolling Raged Quit and we enjoyed our victory.
Myself; Playing DCUO, got all my dailies so I decided why not go after some of the Feats. Decided to do the one in The Hospital with Mr. Freeze, the one where you let Cold Cut eat from the vending machine a certain amount of times. After Experiencing the worst lag ever and freezing over 10 times, I Raged and put the game down for a few days.
Not done yet! Finally calmed down, ready to get back into DCUO, I sit down to play just in time for the hacking! Oh the rage...

Pretty much the same when it comes to MK [size=1]*nudge, lets have a game or two so I can do that*[/h]
other than that, not many other times I rage at a game.
inb4 Mibu and ArTonelico series

The only time I ever quit mid-game was in FIFA 10. I was dominating my opponent the entire game but couldn't score any goals at all (choosing a crappy team with crap strikers wasn't a great idea). Around the final five minutes of the game, my keeper fumbled an easy ass shot leading to the only goal of the match. I quickly quit the game out of frustration.
I felt bad as hell afterwards after I realized I robbed him of a great win.

Back in the day on my Sega Genesis I had Vectorman which I fucking love. I kept getting to this one part of level 10 or 11 and dying. Day after day. I got so angry one day(pent up from other shit) that I headbutted my controller and axe kicked my system.
Back in the Halo 2 days I got so pissed at this one modder I threw a power ball(I dunno why I had it there) at my system and it hit the open tray button.
And of course, I bet everyone has had this happen. The pizza guy rang the door bell right at the worst possible time and I got killed...(CoD).

I'm too determined when playing video games to quit playing over anything that has happened, I've had games freeze on me after having played for hours and i would just restart and do it over again. That's happened to me while playing lots of games over the years which made me learn to save ever single chance i get.
But there has only been one time that i remember rage quitting a game and it was call of duty world at war on the hardest difficulty, i think it was that version of the game. It was the level where you are faced with a bunker that has like three machine guns and there is a path to the left and right both with infinitely re spawning grenade happy enemies. There's also snipers in the trees.
I played that part for hours trying both paths multiple times with different strategies and i just got so frustrated that i punched my tv, which really hurt and gave up. I finally start trying it again a few days later and got passed it quite easily so i face palmed and moved on...

I know what you mean, I'm still at the rank of Fighter with a few matches away from ranking up, yet I keep getting paired up with players over 6 ranks above me. I can be a good sport about it and play a few rounds, but I tend to loose my composure after being subjected to three righteous ass kickings in a row.

You'll see a LOT of long range spamming in the days to come. Also, campers are some of the easier players to deal with in multiplayer. Just use your special grenades to flush em out. I recommend Nova Gas for Black Ops. Use Scavenger Pro, Warlord Pro, and Tactical Mask Pro combined for best results. That way, they'll have to come to you rather than you running into their line of fire and risk getting shot, even if they're blinded.

My dad had some serious rages back when I was a kid. I can't remember the games he was playing anymore but I totally remember what he did.
First time was back when those old joysticks with the suction cups on the bottom were around. He was so pissed he ripped it out from the back of the computer and threw it at the wall. Stuck to the wall for a half hour before it dropped.
Second time he punched the keyboard so hard keys went flying through 2 different rooms. This one is pretty vivid since one of the keys bounced off my forehead and went into my drink.

I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, we were playing versus. I was getting my ass handed to me and was the guy who died first a few times in a row. I did make up an excuse though, I said something along the long of "Hey guys, new Mythbusters, gotta go." and left. It didn't seem like a rage quit, but I was dead pissed.
I also tend to flip the screen off, saying something such as "fuck that" whenever I'm pissed but don't feel like rage quitting.

Its pretty simple. For me, getting the shittiest connection for multi-player fps games is what makes em rage. It makes you teleport everywhere.

I try not to, but back in the day, playing RuneScape, before I would be killed I'd yank out the internet cable so I don't die. Worked every time.

I remember one time a group of three and I were hanging out on the other side of a bridge, planning our next move. The idea was, since I was so lag and was going to die anyway, I would run over, screaming, and get the attention of the opposition. This would draw them out and the rest of the team would follow suite and finish up the job. Simple.
Problem was I popped out and there was an opposing player right there in front of me. I unloaded a clip into his face, which did nothing, and then he shot me in the foot and I died. The rage I swear.
Found out that what I inputted took about 3 seconds to register on screen everywhere else in the world, so I didn't actually get out any shots during that confrontation, who knew lol.
Since then I've avoided most FPS like the plague to avoid the rage, till I get a better connection.

I still just plain suck at FPS though, so that may also have been a factor.

When I was big into Halo 3, I got so angry one night I snapped my disc, then afterwards I regretted it and bought another one.
