ok i been hooked on this game the last few days. But I just got to turn 20 something and im completely screwed.
Ive looked over the walkthrough (if you can really call it that) and it hasn't really helped me at all. Im just wondering if anyone can give me tips. Who should I use? How exactly do I level (I know you level by getting a full smiley bar...but is there something else?) What strategies should I use. When do I know its time to restart cuz theres no fixing the damage ive done?
I say this now cuz my computers HD crashed yesterday and ive had to re-DL it and start again....I dunno if I got the energy to get to stage 20 and have to do over AGAIN.
One thing that would be VERY useful is a basic order I should attack the places in (I know Hara is 1st then....the one with the fat white faced dude....) and things I should with out a doubt be getting (Dungeons. Actions with people ect).
thanks to anyone who helps.
(I tried to check out a youtube vid to help me....what the dudes doing is impossible...the fights hes getting he can only win if the enemys do specific attacks in a specific order, any other order he loses...nearly all of them are like that....)
if anyones got the time to teach me the finer points of the game plz just PM me and ill give you my email.
thanks.

That so-called walthrough is a pretty good almanac, but it's a lousy guide. If you want a list of sequential instructions on how to procede through the game, this one is pretty good:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/936089-sengoku-rance/faqs/58210
Although as a first time player, I would not recommend attacking more than once per turn. That guide copies/pastes another guide that has the absolute minimum turns required to get your first bonus action fan (which is thirteen). A more realistic number would be 16-18turns, assuming you need to take extra moves turns like manually recruit commanders, loot cities for cash, etc.

Ah yes.
I tried to follow that one (first playthrough that god lost with the HD) thats the one that got me screwed.
Simple question. Should I be trying to take on more than one country at once? Or is it better to do them one at a time? See following that guide I had at most maybe 3 turns where I was only at war with one country. This is why I was constantly getting beaten (that and not really knowing a good way to make money? any tips apart from Levys?. I found myself spending everything on getting back troops each turn) But being at war with 2 countries seems like a waste to me. You can only really fight one at a time and it just makes another attack you.
A good example was I had just entered was with the The small purple one when you squeeze the princess boobs. Then the guide said to attack the Miku place. I got beaten down fairly bad cuz of this cuz they both found the need to attack me EVERY DAMN TURN.
So four big questions.
Should I be fighting more than one country at a time?
Is it viable to just sit and wait for them to attack me the whole time? (use non-war time to build rep with the girls, do dungeons n stuff?)
Should I be building Rance up? Or not Using him?
How do you level apart from beating dungeons?
thank you.

Not recommended if it's your first time playing through but it is quite possible yes, i still remember when I was fighting kenshin/takeda/tokugawa/mouri/akashi family and that was on my first time through the game on true route, and in this playthrough, tangehisma got squashed by mouri.
Managed to pull msyelf out despite losing like six provinces to Takeda. I would say, use the scout feature so that you can send right amount of forces to avoid overkilling so that you can fend off counter attacks. I pulled myself out of the horrible situation by going after kenshin first and then lesser houses and takeda last.

Well that is doable, but i would farm the dungeons for the items to rep up the girls with quickly. And you will get rep items from battles on map as well especially if you finish the battle somewhat spectacularly.
Should I be building Rance up? Or not Using him?
I believe you can kill everything with a lvl 40 rance. On important battles where its rance vs whatever enemy will be deleveled if you get a gameover against him and you choose to try again.
How do you level apart from beating dungeons?
Happy Poporuki items from releasing captured enemy commanders from your prison!
And to increase your income per turn, its easy, just level up your national power of each territory. basically More territory and high NP in each territory = more gold = more power for you in your troops.
EDIT: Is there any frickin way to capture commanders reliably coz i was attempting to capture nanjou ran and i repeatedly failed only to succeed in capturing her at last castle, of course, that defeats the purpose for I want to start the nanjou ran route -_-

To Question1------> yes, one at the time, fighting them all will give you a headache, don't declare a war when youre fighting some other province, and ignore the west side till you finish the east~
To question2------> if you're allowed to fight them, then occupy them... if 3g doesn't allow you to pursued, focus youre time to dungeon lvl and rep
To question3------> rance and all of your'e officers needs to reach high lvl as much as you can, it'll be critical for the last stage...
To question4------> Dungeons, satisfactions, releasing prisoners, those will help you lvl up...
To question5------> when you finish the true route then, you can
To begin the Ran IF route, capture Nanjo Ran while fighting the Hojo House. Let Hojo Soun go to a dungeon in Mamushi Oil Field before defeating Hojo House. Once you defeat the Hojo House, do an event there, which unlocks a dungeon in Mamushi Oil Field. If you complete this dungeon before 5 seals are broken, you'll be on the Ran IF route.

it'll be a big help~

ok heres a question.
WTF is up with the demon army.
They attacked me I think 5 times in one turn....HOW THE HELL AM I SUPOSED TO DEFEND AGAINST THAT CRAP.....ive decided to try the gamefaqs walkthrough again now that I know more about the game (how to manage my cash and comanders better) and im going fairly smoothly at turn 35.
But seriously WTF. The demon army is so insanely strong, im hoping that the walkthrough im using gets you to take over most places by the time the army comes (which judging from where im up to it will.) and make it a little more tollerable.
Demon army = broken.
...........Oh and this is by far one of the most addictive games ive ever played.....EVER.

The 5 attacks happen just once, though. And if you survive long enough...

Can someone help me I'm trying to install the game but it keeps showing an error message about something about the movie folder in GAMEDATA folder in Japanese. My guess is that I'm missing files for some reason. I only have two .alm files in the movie file. Are there supposed to be more?

You have to change the setting on your computer to Japanese. You need it this way to install and to play the game (dont worry though from what ive seen all changing this does is let you play the game.....nothing acutaly changed to japanese it just lets your comp view the letters).
Go to the first page of this thread and theres a FAQ on how to change it.

I engaged her like 30 times and failed to capture her.
Which was just silly.
So i'm stuck.
EDIT: Nvm, finally freakin captured nanjou ran. XD
And finished nanjou ran's route it was one of most challenging routes i have ever played minus the demon king one >.> but awesome fun it was yes

do you capture all the mourai (sp?) sisters when you take over? or should I capture them all seperately (ive got Kiko right now and im haivng trouble getting the other two...i wont bother if I can just recruit em later).

You'll get the entire Mouri family if you defeat them after Mouri is uncursed. Also, it's impossible to clear one of the girls without capturing her (can't recall who), but she's hella hard to capture, but she can be cleared if you start a new game with the Mouri house bonus.
*note* that in order to uncurse him, you need to the appropriate events BEFORE path determination.

That one is the ninja girl of mouri family u must capture her.
EDIT: And gabrielz, it had something to do with mouri, akashi, takeda, kenshin, declaring war on me at roughly same time =p Of course, in that route, Shimazu house merged with Mouri too for lols.
And that's not even counting the holes of hell opening up and lowering your NP each turn.
If I didn't do Maeda's Kabuki event I probably would've been quite hurting.
How I dug myself out that situation is to counter akashi each time it attacked while letting shimazu take Naniwa province to reduce the number of attacks I take each turn by one at minimum cuz akashi cannot hit me if shimazu takes naniwa XD
While i was doing that, I spammed kenshin house quite hard while taking takeda's cavalry charge up the butt.
Takeda was taking tons of castles but not taking a single province. After kenshin got sealed off easily while countering shimazu attacks.
After gettign kenshin, and waiting for next takeda charge on the turn it is gonna happen, i just let shimazu take random castles so that all my soldiers will be available to scout/block all four charges in order to take over takeda quickly and easily.
I was busy closing holes to hell while waiting for the takeda charge to block after i finished kenshin house off.
So after repairing all the provinces that was at 4NP and below back to five, i hit asaghi uhhh that old man with yurihime daughter and got him up to trust and boosts my NP even further with newly gained territory XD
Then after there, it's easy riding if you wanna finish off shimazu/akashi if u felt like it or go and meet the sekimei ogre and stop him.
