Should I get a Vita?

The PSvita looks like it has a LOT of potential, the dual touch screens, the dualshock-like controls, the graphics, *gushgushgush*
But here's the thing, I'd rather mod my stuff so I can play games on the go without having to spend $50-$60 each, the same can especially be said for the memory cards. (If it were a console, say Ps3 or 360, it'd be a different story.)
Now I know half you are going to bleed on my grill saying "Pirating is bad" and whatnot. But here's the thing also, My friend has a ps3 so I figure if I get a Vita I can transfer some games from his ps3 and play portable.
BUT turns out that Sony lied and that this feature IS for vita, and they did promise such upon purchase, but then I find out that it's only possible through hacking. And even then it can only play PSP games with CFW.
Also the price looks a bit steep at the moment.
If I wanted to play PSP games, I'd just get a PSP, I already have a few memory cards waiting, and the price looks more than affordable.
Should I just wait for the Vita price to drop (and get PSP instead?)

Well you may as well get a psp, why do you need convincing to get something you already researched?
You really shouldn't care what people have to say about you pirating.
Like me, go out and buy the fucking games you conceited jew.

Really, the only game that's worth buying IMO is Persona 4 Golden, heard great things about Gravity Rush though. I say wait a while until it gets some more good games.
Plus the fact that the Vita isn't really backwards compatible with about 80% of the PSP's library...

Get whatever you want. I plan on getting a Vita this Christmas. Games don't cost that much either.

Persona 4 Golden is awesome (more so for me since I didn't play the original). I also like Playstation Allstars. There's also Mortal Kombat, Blazeblue, and UMVC3. Black Ops is there, Disgaea is there. Those are just the ones I downloaded (well excluding Mortal Kombat, which I'll definitely get, and Black Ops, which I might get). I also got Gravity Rush, but I think that game is overrated.

I think the only games worth mention is like the above Persona 4 golden.. Other than tat not much going around.. I think you should get the PSP... there's alot of cool games in it.. not the best graphic.. but don't judge a game based on graphic.. ^^

I was tempted to get one for myself as well seeing as the COD wifi vita bundle were on sale for $200 + employee discount, but then again.... the games really add up.
Maybe when the games I want gets a huge price cut/vita gets hacked.

*ding ding ding* we have a winner, folks. The troll has been fed splendidly today!
On topic, buy the Vita if there's a game that is worthy to play. Or, like in my case, you're ITCHING to play. I was gonna buy a DS when Megaman Legends 3 came out. Sadly, bastard Capcom put a stop to it >:|

I did some researching and fortunately vita won't get hacked. The memory card is a unique card not readable by anything else other than the Sony Content Manager. There's no item in existence where you can plug the card and put any file that you want. If you want to put your files SCM updates the system via Sony Network and limits you to Music, Video, and Photo.
I read somewhere that someone tried converting it to an SD card and when they inserted it in the Vita, it won't even recognize the card. I'm quite happy Sony implemented this even though it might put off a lot of gamers. It encourages us to support the developers

I'm sure somebody will find a way to hack it though. It's only a matter of time.

You definitely should get one. its hands down my favorite hand held. Persona 4 Golden is amazing and Gravity Rush was pretty good as well. Plus you have all the PSP games on psn you can get. Hopefully more good games will come out for it soon but just as a console itself, its godly.

If there's a will, there's a way.

Don't bother until japan stop hogging the good games for vita like a fag. Then maybe they'll see the message. I refuse to buy mine until I see ciel no surge being localized in usa or whatever.

I own a Vita, and I'd say that it is by far the best handheld game console I've used (Maybe except for the gameboy pocket, man that one kicked ass). It is very satisfying by itself. The problem with the Vita is that it has comparatively few users, which has led to fewer developers caring to develop games for the Vita, even in Japan. I say, sure, it is an awesome console with a bunch of decent games, but also in turns of games, it lacks in both quantity and quality.
Of course, if the number of users is the problem, not buying one will hardly improve on it =D

There are a lot of games that are on the Vita in Japan and in Asia in general than the ones that are in the rest of the regions. I created a JPN PSN account and started DL'ing a lot of the games that I wanted to import, while buying the ones that we have State-Side to keep the extra HDD space.
Unfortunately, there's still not a lot of support for this fantastic hand-held device. But, I have high hopes that it will pick up soon, like most of the hand-helds gaming devices have.
Vids on the most recent games I bought for my Vita :
