Should I get a Vita?
0
The big problems with the Vita are price and content. It's expensive and it lacks a large library. That being said, pretty much everyone who gets a Vita ends up enjoying it (statistically), me included. The big question is always the games of course. Look at what is offered on the PSN, what games are exclusive to UMD's, and of course the Vita's library itself and then decide if its worth the expense. For me, they hooked me with Gravity Rush and the possibility of a Bioshock game.

I also love my vita. I love all the games that I bought(PDf, Disgaea, P4:G, Uncharted, Zero Escape, etc.). I just felt Sony fucked me over when I bought a couple of PS1 digital copies and it ended up not playable in the Vita. Come on..

I haven't bought one yet, but I feel that the handheld itself is worth the money. My issue is that Sony is charging ridiculous prices out of the ass for memory sticks.
While the library may be somewhat small, keep in mind that it is region-free, if you want to go down the import route. Also, having a playstation plus membership is a huge bonus, for the free downloadable games + discounted stuff.

Thinking about getting one myself but my only problem with it is buttons are too small for my thumbs. If it had 3DS or PSP's button size then I'd go out and get one. Hopefully a new model will improve on that.

I did some researching and fortunately vita won't get hacked. The memory card is a unique card not readable by anything else other than the Sony Content Manager. There's no item in existence where you can plug the card and put any file that you want. If you want to put your files SCM updates the system via Sony Network and limits you to Music, Video, and Photo. I read somewhere that someone tried converting it to an SD card and when they inserted it in the Vita, it won't even recognize the card. I'm quite happy Sony implemented this even though it might put off a lot of gamers. It encourages us to support the developersI own one. I have no complaints. Cruz's statement is true, but the psp was the same in the first years until cfw. Depends on what next. 3 million units world wide isn't bad since the psp sold less in it's first year also. No one bandwagons on first gen anyways.

from the looks of it I might as well just get a PSP, mod that, wait for Vita price drop, (and new homebrews) and THEN get it.
Guess I know what to do for winter break. :/

I'm actually thinking of selling my psp-3001 but now the memory sticks are worth more then the console.

I kinda regret buying a vita but after playing around with P4G, I felt I made the right choice... a little bit.
Coming from a smartphone standpoint, the Vita has inferior hardware; camera stinks, screen is large but lacks res and therefore ppi, no proprietary memory, 3g is obsolete, lack of micro sd, usb, a BACK button. But for its price, its reasonable, atleast for a Sony. High-end smartphone will run you between $500-800 unactivated or around $200 with commitment, which is around the price the vita was black friday.
EDIT: please PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong but there are WAY too many Xeperia and they all look the same to me. @_@ For comparative sake:
attempted to find devices released around the same time (late 2011, early 2012), from big name companies so the prices would be as inflated as possible (especially so for Apple). All unlocked, holiday sales from Amazon.

- Playstation Vita: $249.96

[*]Iphone 4s: $549.99
[*]Galaxy Nexus: $389.99
[*]Nintendo 3DS: $179.00

I bought Vita day one of release, I played the hell out of some WipeOut 2048 (I love Wipeout), then when Gravity Rush came out I also played the hell out of that title.
Little to say is that I beat both of them, got all the trophies, now I literally have nothing to play on my Vita that I can't already play on my PS3.
There WILL be games I will buy on it though and play. So I do lovemy Vita, it's amazing, graphics, the feel of it, the way system, everything.
Anyways, get it if you want but don't expect a lot of game play until you get a game you truly want for the Vita
