So PS4 is confirmed, but what about the new XBOX???

What is the benefit to always being connected to the internet? You can't trade games with your friends, you can't torrent games to see if you actually want to buy it or not, you can't rent games, if a storm or something comes by and knocks out your internet for a week, you can't play ANYTHING...That's exactly what DRM aim's to destroy, "One copy per machine" is the intent (One bought copy per player, per machine would probably be ideal for them). Torrents, renting, and used copy purchases are probably their biggest aim. Publishing companies don't make money of gamestop's "used policy". A publishers response to "sampling" would probably be "We have demo's" though of course this is not always true. The first priority (and sometimes only) is money, take EA for example.

The biggest thing here is Gamestop continues to just flood its buyer-base with incentives for buying used over new exactly for that reason: You buy used, it all goes to Gamestop, not to the publisher. Instead of copies coming out all the time, you get copies circulating all the time. That's the entire point behind EA's "Online Pass" idea which, admittedly, isn't unreasonable, imo.
In any case, every game publisher hates the monopoly Gamestop has and rightfully abuses, but no one can deny that their incentives that *only* apply to used games aren't good enough to make people ignore new copies entirely.
While I've always been way happier with Sony than Microsoft, the latter of which I gave up on and switched exclusively to the former, I don't think they're so stupid to try a built-in DRM with the machine--that level of backlash would drown any possible benefit. But the "always on" thing is just never cool. Even if it's just in standby mode accessing a cloud, the added energy costs would be ludicrous.
Not to mention that ex-rep who was forced to resign saying some of the dumbest thing a game company rep has ever said publicly actually insinuating things no one wanted to hear and couldn't possibly been spun to make sound positive. "Always on" is not a feature, it's, at best, a dreadfully high extra cost--and a bad multimedia machine at best.
I won't be jumping on any new consoles unless there's a really good reason to, even though I'm now at a point in my life in which it wouldn't be a big expense. It used to be the case that a GPU bump and a new controller were good enough, but it feels like everyone's becoming indifferent about that, and there just aren't a lot of good ideas going around, just a lot of, "Well, it might be cool, maybe." But maybe I'm alone in thinking that, though. Enough with nonsense like 3D, Kinect, the total failure that was Move, whatever...It's just not necessarily more fun playing games a "different" way.

So ya... I disagree with you and EA, for reasons listed. I'm not against being paid, but what they are doing is screwing over customers, while pirates/coders will give them better versions/service.

I don't know what you're talking about, since external links don't count unless they're at least backed up with a reason to click them. At least voice your own reasons in your own voice first for tact's sake.
Pirates/coders don't make the majority market for people and are not something I would consider a major nuisance for publishers or Microsoft. Most copies that people have are legit, and the overwhelmingly vast majority of people who play their consoles have nothing to do with that scene at all. It's just not a threat like it is on PCs, where it's practically drowning the market without any effective DRM that also doesn't annoy consumers simultaneously.
Remember Sins of a Solar Empire, the acclaimed PC game that had no DRM at all? 90% of its copies were pirated. Ninety percent, for emphasis. It was still considered a success. How many copies of Halo 3 do you think were pirated relative to all the copies sold?
Customers are getting "screwed over" because Gamestop is causing a decay in publishers' earnings, which go to the appropriate makers of the games. When they don't get money, they don't make more games. Sales determine whether they make more games, and used game sales simply don't count for them.
People complain a lot about how companies are, you know, trying to make money so they can stay in the market at all. That's the main reason Gamestop doesn't help the industry very much with its used-games-are-better approach. It's also why gamers think they deserve special treatment despite the market itself requiring these business practice changes that all gaming-related businesses have to pay attention to. These seriously misinformed players act like companies like EA are treating them poorly for the hell of it, but they do it because it gets them the most money. At the end of the day, everyone can complain on every forum there is, but there are *plenty* of people who aren't on those forums to make up for it, and EA is still counting its earnings well past our bedtime. It's not fun to think of it that way, but it's what is.

Huh? That never came up in the quote you used.

Funny to hear you quoting "tact" when you show no interest in giving way into your pretentious pride. When you responded to me, but yet refuse my claims/sources because I didn't make it "reasonable enough for you to bother"?

A majority of users don't hack the consoles, but enough do to make a significant and unavoidable community for all three consoles. Though I don't get the point on commenting on their numbers, only takes 1 to upload onto pirate bay.
DRM on the PC as a whole is a different discussion, that I'm not willing to bother with. DRM was brought up in reference to the Xbox720/Dingo/whatever their calling it.

Instead of trying to work around Gamestop, they target and punish customers. They even give a "example" of a "better way to conduct sales".

That (Money) being the sole priority they care for "IS". If you had watched the video on the second escapistmagazine.com link, you would have, even a remote, idea of what consumers are discontented with.

If you had watched the video on my first escapistmagazine.com link, from my first post in this thread, you would have heard that. Don't blame me because you refused to research what I presented, for your own bias reasons.
I am not your teacher, I am not hear to "break it down" for you, so I would appreciate it if you didn't pretend I was. If you refuse to meet me half way then just write "I don't agree with you for personal reason that I don't wish to discuss" or better don't bother and "let it go". I really don't want to talk to someone who is only willing to give me partial attention unless I satisfy his ego.

They're probably gonna cost 799 US dollahs, so I'm gonna wait a year for it to go down.Sony has come out and said that it will be priced competitively. They have also stated the price will appeal to gamers in the broadest sense....highly unlikely.

Eh, I still wouldn't get a PS4 so soon. I'm still enjoying my PS3 too much to trade it in.

So we know it's not going to be always one drm since they came out to say it wasnt(they probably saw the backlash).
Some rumors have been floating around saying that it's going to be 100% backwards compatible with the XBox360, and will be using windows 8.
It'll have a kinetic2.0 with it...
There will be 2 versions, a $300/$500 models with a mandatory subscription.

I saw another rumor that said it wasn't always online. Do you have the link where it was confirmed? Also yeah I heard about the Windows 8 thing and I don't know how good of an idea that is since people don't actually like Windows 8 that much. The other rumor I heard was that only the 300 dollar version would have the mandatory subscription.

Microsoft made a statement themselves sometime this week.

I'm pretty sure you're referring to the anonymous source because Microsoft didn't issue any statement like that...unless you have a link.
Edit: Something actually from Microsoft has come and it is that Microsoft will reveal the new Xbox officially on May 21st.
