Square Enix may die... hmm... umm...

Well to be honest XII was my first Final Fantasy game that i have ever played and I think it was awesome(fuck me right?) and it introduced me to the Final Fantasy series and I got to say it lead me to the best gaming moments I ever had.
I am currently playing FF 7 and I am enjoying it to the fullest. Although I am not to judge (have not played 2,6,7,8,9,13 to the end) every Final Fantasy is unique(storywise) in its own way and other like or hate it (sounds pretty neutral huh?)
In fact of gameplay I liked the turn based rpgs like 3 or 10 better (just my personal preference) but the active time battle games are fine too
My personal favourite was Crisis Core: FFVII it had everything= great characters great story great main character and great ost(although the gameplay was kinda to fast-paced for me)
I don't think Square Enix will die anytime soon. They showed us that they still can do it like Crisis Core presented and I sincerly hope they can restore its former glory with XV.
P.S. For the smartphone users of you(android and iOS) a secret tip from me try the CHAOS RINGS series(I emphasized it because it is awesome) especially Chaos Rings 2 that is another reason why I still have faith in SE. The price might scare you a bit but you know there are "other" ways to get it if you know what i mean ;)

Think of it this way, when you start from (though I, and many others don't consider it by final fantasy standards) decent(XII) and work your way to it's betters is different from, when you've been playing from (Final Fantasy, over the top) great standard to a continued spiral down to worse titles including the one listed (XII), it's not the same experience.
Also Final Fantasy 7 is an incredibly controversial FF. But for the most part, people will argue that, its value was it's innovation in graphics, 3d, and combat. Story wise and character wise, was not that interesting, (maybe the Tifa band wagon proves me wrong with an exception).
In terms of ranking (of story and characters, numbers wise) this seems to be the most common.
VII, X or IX (for 3rd-4th), VIII, VI.
Though this is highly controversial, as well it can be changed based on the focus. (Tactics would bump XII out I believe, never played it or 6... I'll play them later)
Crisis Core... Never played. Hands too big to play psp (cramps after 10 mins of strain). My friend loved it though, but he was a huge VII fan, so I don't have any unbiased opinions of.

I can't weigh in on crisis core, but everyone has their occasional hits. Square has gone crazy with setting XII as the standard to represent them as a whole, by whoring it out as much as possible.
Advent children (and the remake)
The other movie
Dirge of Cerberus
Crisis Core
Before crisis (just heard of it)
Letting rumors float about a XII remake for years...
Great music comes from it, but that's all I acknowledge.

Square Enix is an interesting case. I was talking with a friend about it on facebook the other day. The reason they lost so much this year, is because they predicted their numbers wwwaaayyyy higher than they ever should of considering how most of their games sold fairly well. But their CEO getting canned will hopefully fix a few problems. FF14 was a disaster, and stupid, because all they needed to do was make FF11 with updated graphics and story and it would have been successful, I knew tons of people who started to play it thinking thats what it would be and they all quit almost immediately. Saying they should take a page from WoW's book is smart, WoW is the most successful MMO RPG of all time, and i'm fairly certain its still the most played, even if it is going downhill.
Final Fantasy 13 was terrible, the worst final fantasy game ever releasef imo, and what did they do? Made 2 sequels to it... that was fucking retarded. At this point... they HAVE to realize they're doing something wrong... I really hope Versus 13/15 ends up being a good game. I really hope they go back to the roots with gameplay a little bit.
The FF10 HD remake is a great idea, I'm fairly certain that will sell well. Honestly, if they went back and started with like FF4 and just did an HD remake of most of the old Final Fantasy games with like ff13 level graphics and voice overs...they would probly all sell excellently, and that would give a new generation of players a chance to try out the old final fantasy games without having to deal with outdated graphics.
I honestly doubt they are going to go under, i bet someone will buy them out or bail them otu before that happens, they have way too many money franchises under their name to just fizzle out.

-WoW has 10 years.
-WoW players, play WoW, because of how invested they are in it.
-Most people won't jump from MMO to MMO, and why jump to a WoW clone when you already have WoW (exception free, but FF 11 and 14 were not free-to-play, and probably never will be).
You can not kill WoW by using WoW... It's been done over a hundred times, and it will not work, none of them do...

They can instead rely on the past works to make up for a lot of work and push out a project for less than half the price/time.
They did realize, they realized what American publishers do with works like CoD and Battlefield.

I don't want. I want new works, not tricked into re-buying the same game every 5-10 years because it has a new look and a little extra. Relying on the past glory to keep their company afloat... I can't stand that (personal issue of principle for me).

Their only worth their name, now, if their name is dragged through the mud, if their name can no longer inspire people to purchase their games, then they have less worth than any new company created. For me, if only a little, their name on a box will only inspire me to buy a rpg, if I buy any other type of game by them, it isn't because they have "Square Enix" on the box, that is simply coincidental.

They thought they had an expected player base that would have kept their game alive no matter what. However, as a current 11 subscriber, I really don't want to lose years of progress just so I can play a prettier looking game and I know I'm not the only one like that. It also doesn't help that 14 lacked a lot of basic features that are common in MMORPGS.
SE must have realized FFXI players are not jumping anytime soon to XIV considering they're released a new XI expansion this week.
