Suikoden (All games)

First one of the series I started with was Suikoden 4 (finished it) even though everyone say its the worse, I really enjoyed it and it got me to the series tried 5 for a bit didn't get a chance to finish it, but I got Suikoden 1 on my PSP, so now I can play the beginning of the series and work my way up. What I like most about the series is it having RPG and strategy together, two types of games I like put together.

I played 1,2,3 & 5
Also Suikogaiden 1 & 2.

I haven't played 4 and Tactics yet.
There's also that new game for DS.

My all time favorite is Suikoden 2.
I replayed it many times already.

I like the idea of recruiting characters.
My favorites are Viki, Stallion, Mel & Miakis.

...for those who can't read Japanese like me.

I almost lost hope for Suikoden when IV came out...and was pretty fail. Good ideas mashed with horrible character development and graphics and bland story. Suikoden has always been a great story! The fact that they managed to fuck THAT up in IV made me almost lose hope. Then V came out, which still wasn't to my usual expectations, but it was a shitload better than IV, so my hope still rings out that Suikoden will continue, and won't wane in it's epicness. My brother played Suikoden I and II...gave them to me...I played and beat them both, then beat III, which was probably the best one in my opinion, then beat IV, cried a bit, beat V, and saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I just hope they keep going...I love me some Suikoden.

To those who think Suikoden III is the best out of the whole series...

Mind explaining what you think makes this game so great?

3, i like cause you get to see the story develop from different perspective unlike the other suikoden where its just 1 or the most 2. But its far from the best

May favorite is 2, as well... it just seems like there are a lot of 3 fanboys here.

I think most of the characters in 3 weren't that original... Liked the "different perspectives" part, but I think that made playing this game kinda a drag.

But I probably should replay that game again...

Agreed with this. what makes 3 not one of my favorites is the "funny" battle system.

we still have 6, but make them in groups? there goes my usual strategy.. and I didn't like the Rune area damage system.

character wise, I kinda dislike knowing the fact that my Tenkai Star hero, isn't as "cool" as the others.. Thomas..

Favorite is still 2, with it's complex story and focusing on the theme of Friendship.

How could I miss this thread. Suikoden is one of the best game I have played, I could say its even better than the FF games. Suikoden 2 is my top most favourites, good character development, good fighting system, good storyline, crazy ass villain Luca Blight is a pain, I still remember the horror of the efforts it took to beat this guy and the cooking game. Must not forget the cooking game which sadly won't ever makes an appearance in other Suikoden game.

I even bought a the artwork book for the Suikoden card game since I love this game too much.

Anyone played Tierkries?(not sure if I spelled it right).Was it good?

And thanks Unos for the Suikogaiden links, rep for that. I have been waiting forever for that to play the game. Can't wait to play the part where Nash meets with Riou and Co. I'm a big Nanami fan btw.

Oh yeah, that dude was badass. The last fight against him is still really hard after some playthroughs, though one might think games might get easier each time you play (that was certainly the case with Suikoden 5... I lol at Miakis one-shotting bosses)

I'd SO buy a stand-alone minigame based on this.

Nice to see this thread alive again and i agree with that Suikoden 2 is the best, and at Nashrakh i would also buy a cook-off minigame if it was like in Suikoden 2.

I must ask you what were your guys favorite character?
