The "Last Game You Beat" Thread

luinthoron High Priest of Loli
Finally got Ori and the Will of the Wisps to 100% on the Switch.

Excellent game as well, if not quite up to the level set by the prequel - apart from a less emotionally hitting story, which may be a good thing instead of trying to outdo the original and ruining it in the process (looking at you, Wixoss...), it's trying a bit too hard to be Hollow Knight, even if some of the gameplay changes are understandable in the name of adding a bigger choice of abilities.

The last game I beat was Shante and the Pirate's curse on Xbone.

Went back to it after picking up Shante and the seven sirens at AX. 2D platformers aren't really my kind of games but there was something about it that made me stay and play. Plus Shante and Riskyboots were hot.

Game in progress: hard to pick in my massive backlog of games. I'll just pick, Shante ½ Genie Hero.

Considering how many games are "Games as a service" now, I replayed and beat Super Mario World with all Star levels and secrets unlocked for the first time ever. Havent played it since I was a kid.

alto, nostalgia.
La última vez que jugué fue a Dota 2, y voy por God of War. Por cierto, para ir a lo seguro, le sugiero que utilice bono de casino (https://casinopinup.cl/).

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga 3DS remake.

The boss fights are much better this time around. The dialogue is still as snappy and well-written as I remember. The fact that the Mushroom Kingdom's economy crashes every time Peach gets kidnapped is a friggin' riot. The exchange rate of MK coins only gets worse as the game progresses, from 10-1 to 9999-1. Makes you wonder how much of a laughingstock the kingdom is to the rest of the world.

I dunno if this counts because it was another playthrough of a game I had already beaten but I'm going to count it because it was a big accomplishment for me, that being Persona 4 Golden. It was my fifth playthrough of the game and I have been trying to get that sweet sweet Platinum trophy without the use of a guide for the last three playthroughs, which has been even harder than it sounds. The particular trophy I keep tripping on the Legend of Inaba, which is the trophy for completing every social link in a single playthrough. With each attempt I've optimized my time to be more and more efficient until I ended my fourth playthrough literally one day short of the trophy. With the fifth attempt I finally got it and it was the most satisfying feeling in the world, I highly recommend anyone with a copy of P4G give it a go. It was a productive run in many other respects as well, I got the trophies for completing the compendium and defeating the reaper, but I'll have to do a sixth playthrough for the minor trophies that had to be neglected for time such as reading every book in the game. I also just wanna be able to play the game loosely again.

System Shock

I beat the original '94 release a year or two ago and it was a lot like Killer7. It was memorable. I'm glad I played it. I can't recommend it.

The 2023 remake was fun and terrifying all over again. Whatever changes were made to the game (which were few), were only a positive influence to the end product. Guns that were completely useless were removed, such as the stun gun (which drained an unnecessarily large chunk of your energy and could only stun organic enemies in a game where it's kill or be killed) and the riot gun (which was changed to a bonafide shotgun). The cyberspace looked way cooler and was much less frustrating to play through. Numerous upgrades you could pick up were combined (Night-Vision was turned into an upgrade of the headlamp and the retractable skates and jet-boots were combined and turned into Shadow the Hedgehog shoes.)

Every action you commit has a little animation to it. Reloading, healing, unlocking doors with keycards, recharging with personal batteries, picking up and installing upgrades onto yourself, etc. While this is almost always really cool, it can also end up being a pain in the ass when you're healing in the middle of a gunfight, because you've got a sliver of health left, you're RUNNING from whatever's shooting at you, and your first-aid box has to be opened, the syringe inside has to be pulled out, turned around and jabbed into your neck before you actually heal. Which can (and has) cost me my life a time or two.

By the time you get to the last quarter of the game, all of the fear that you started the game with is gone. If something can kill you, you've already figured out how to kill it first.

If you play the game yourself, don't be afraid to use the boxes outside of the freight elevator in Level 3. You hate the invisible mutants, I know. I do too. But those boxes can hold all of your guns and ammo that you're not gonna be using.

10/10, would recommend and am already replaying.
