I got the RROD on my 360 a few years ago. I guess you can say it's lucky, cuz it happened a week before my warranty expired. I called Microsoft and mailed them my 360 for repairs. However, it was beyond saving. So, they sent me a new 360 for free and threw in a 1 month Live trial card with the package. Despite being deprived of my games for a week and a half, I came out of that deal feeling pretty good.Same thing happened to me last year. RRoD in last month of 3 year warranty -> free brand new XBOX360 from Microsoft! :)
I shat bricks of joy/relief when I realized I didn't have to buy a new 360. Mine was pretty much a launch console from 2006 (I bought it in 2007) that came bundled with 5 half-decent games in a "military appreciation pack" from AAFES. Only reason mine lasted as long as it did was because I kept it in a place where it can easily vent out the hot air and I would occasionally clean off the fans with keyboard duster and Q-tips, because I take care of my shit.

I've had a 360 for...6 months now, and I still haven't gotten the RRoD. Hope that didn't jinx me D:

My first 360 was a first gen and lasted a little over 3 years of heavy gameplay before finally getting those red lights.

Yeah, I bought the xbox 6 months ago. It has it's nice, cozy spot on my desk free of obstructions and hasn't moved much since being place there. I think it should be fine for a long time :V

I got it once... Probably 2 days before Call of duty 4 came out.
After Rage moments, I called Xbox Support - Worthless.
I asked a buddy who worked at gamestop to grab me a new one.
Now 2011, I think I might get this damn Ring again...

Yes and it SUCKS!!! One time it was my own about a year ago and the other was my best friend and his happened like 3 yrs ago. I wait for the inevitable 2nd red ring and I'll have to fork over the money.

i've had mine for about 3-4 year before i got the RROD, called support and said that mine isnt under warranty and it cost about $120 to get it fixed, after that i just said fuck it went and sold all my xbox games and stuff and went out and bought a ps3. Figured its a much stabler system (i think 35% of all 360 have gotten RRoD, in an article it says 53.6% but im gonna go with 35%) and id end up saving money from not paying for LIVE.
