Eiyuu Senki's gameplay is more like Sengoku Rance than anything, except it is much more polished and improved than any of the RPG games I've played so far. This game is THE beauty of intuitive, clean design. At one point - actually it's this link: https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=81733&start=105 where I made my review so just check it out.

Brass Restoration

I understand that it's old, but then the story is kinda messed up. I always get bad endings after long skips, so I gave up on it.



On the other hand, I just finished playing Katawa shoujo. Nice plot, even though my other friends found it disturbing to see Hisao having sex with disabled girls (I see them as normal, though, so meh.)
My fave is Shizune's Arc.

How long? Read up Hiragana and Katagana and done. I'm Chinese so I have knowledge of all the Kanjis, so it's no problem. After that, it's just reading hundreds of Japanese Visual Novels with translator tool on. Now I can read Japanese just fine without them (although those sentences with a lot of Hiragana/Katagana stuffed in it makes life slightly harder), though of course I always leave them on.

It's not hard to understand machine translated English. Just connect the words together, listen to their intonation if it's a dialogue, and piece up the story. I believe Eiyuu Senki should have fairly comprehensible machine translated English, and the same goes with Baldr Sky, but that's another story.

Oh, so you use a machine to translate it. That'd be much more helpful for me. Which do you recommend? Sorry about asking all these questions. >.>

AGTH/ATLAS? ITH/Translator Aggregator? AGTH is the tool that hooks the text, and ATLAS the one that translates it. If you use AGTH/ATLAS it's a little troublesome so I suggest you use ITH/TA instead. There should be a Hongfire thread with the all downloads and tutorials required.

Just something I came across when replaying Monster Girl Quest. When Luka fights Gnome, he says the line "Even if she's a girl, I won't hold back." This doesn't make sense, because EVERYTHING YOU FIGHT IS A GIRL!. Was that the translator screwing up, or did the writer for the dialogue actually type that? Either way, I don't see how that got past the editing/testing team.

They're actually more monster/beast than girl, and Gnome was one of the few that actually looked normal. Somewhat.

I just finished playing Brass Restoration. I previously said I'll drop it, but then I played it again out of boredom. Skipped a number of frames because I don't have much time to read it with luxury.

I have to partially disagree. Disregarding the artificial monsters, many monsters show plenty of signs of being female up to Gnome. Granted, some (such as most of the bug-based species) are unlikely to be recognized as female by Luka if the -girl part wasn't added to the monsters by default, it is likely he would've been easily able to identify the gender of most of the monsters, acknowledging that he has been fighting females up to Gnome. The Elves, faeries, and even two of the artificials looked more human than Gnome. Although the faeries would be arguable, since they're so tiny.

However, I suppose it could be related to the younger-looking monsters. There was still a fair amount of those, but most of them were asking for it. It's possible that he felt bad towards the timid Gnome. Even if that were so, a better choice of words would've been nice.

Well, as a writer, I can tell you that we can't always keep our facts intact. Sometimes I can't even remember characters that I've written myself halfway through the story, and even entire settings spanning a couple thousand words. For that part, well, it looks more like a slight mistake made by the original author than the translator's, because so far I am extremely pleased with how well it reads in English. Of course, I may be biased in my opinion somewhat since that is my most second most proficient language...

Just finished playing Edelweiss. Then, I passed it on to my friends since they found it nice.

They enter an all-girls school. Grandma is the principal. Then different answers lead to different routes / arcs. Then a little chit-chat. Then the involvement of Miya. Then SEX wOOt, then a little event -- THEN WHAT. THE. FUCK. Then drama (except for Ran). Then the involvement of the philosopher's stone and the greedy grandma (except for ran). Then something really good happens that ain't related to sex (except for Mizuki).

MIZUKI

Spoiler:

Mizuki has a nice body to start with, and flashed her boobs early in the game. Her arc is hilariously tsun-tsun before sex. After the accident, there is a sudden downfall of vanilla / tsundere goodness, becoming a drama. In the end -- no. I don't even wanna remember. It's too fucking sad. It's really a waste, considering that Mizuki is the best girl in the game for me (In My Humble Opinion).
She has black hair (+1), Perfectly Normal breast size (+1), slightly tsundere (+1), Voice ain't too-small-that-you-want-to-kill-a-kitten (+1), Hilarious perverted tsundere dialogues (+1), Nice storyline at the beginning (+1), FUCKED UP ENDING (-9000, only applies to the part after sex #2)

HARUKA

Nice body, yes. Innocent. Vanilla. Sex scene: both of them are inexperienced, so that makes them equal ^^. After sex, haruka dies because of stupid grandma. Then visions of Haruka. then Haruka was resurrected.
Normal breast size (+1), Vanilla (I'm cool with that, so +1), Dies at the middle of the story (-1), Was resurrected (+1)

MEI

Oppai. Teacher. She lost her memory. The only memory she has was from 3 years ago. Is ignorant about love. First kiss tastes like mud. Is not real. Reminds me of BOOKWORM BITCHES on both sex scenes. Her arc focuses on use of words (which is understandable since the arc follows a relationship between a student and a teacher).

NATSUME

Pettanko. Appears once in a blue moon before the sex part. Is always sleeping. Kawaii. Well, her story looks interesting to read. It's like reading Full Metal Alchemist movie. Nice sex scene.

RAN

Ran, as revealed in the first few hours of playing Edelweiss, likes money and extortion is one of her hobbies. She likes money. Has a big wallet. Always asks for money for every favor. Tries to pay back money for every favor done to her. Initially prefers money than love (until the incident with Kzushi). Sex scene #1: Nice. Sex scene #2: fellatio. Sex scene #3: IN A FUCKING BOX!!! Sex scene #4: Doggy. The storyline is meant for those who wants drama mixed with some comedy.

I really got frustrated on Mizuki's arc.

Currently I'm playing Tsukihime, I got nostalgic and ended up with one of the oldest VN's I have on my PC (still working on Windows 7, lolwut). Still one of the best works by Type Moon despite being this old.

Finally installed and started School Days, I've had it for a while now and hadn't even installed it. I've just played the first 2 episodes, it's so good... I didn't actually realise it was all animated, I thought it was just the sex scenes. I really like it.
