What VN are you playing? What do you think about it?

Just got a bad end in Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo. I'm irritated that Spoiler:
Going by your logic the entire world had to die to pay for their sins. At any rate, wishing for someone else's death is never going to be considered a good thing as long as we have a society. Not to say that you're wrong, but just food for thought here.
EDIT: On another note, AIEEEEEE SO BORED NOT A SINGLE INTERESTING VN UPDATE THESE DAYS
EDIT 2: OHHHHH Monster Quest; 5 minutes into it and I'm already captivated by it's kinda Western drawings and happy-go-lucky music. This is really, REALLY good; I haven't seen such an amazing mood maker VN in a long while.

I'm not saying that the world has to die for their sins. It's just that when someone is so controlling of their child that they're essentially ruining their life that they need to either back off or leave.
Spoiler:
By Monster Quest, do you mean Monster Girl Quest/Monster Girl Assault?

[color=#2e1a6b]I just finished this, I really liked it. I hated the mother, but I knew that nothing good would come from letting her die
The final dilemma was probably the most difficult choice I've ever had to make in any Visual novel. I stared at my screen for an hour just thinking about it. The reason I had trouble deciding is because I believe that I could face a similar dilemma in my own life. I could either choose:

Hmm. I've never seen the choices in the VN as something that I personally have to choose, because the paths and endings are already predetermined no matter what you choose. I guess your hesitation is a good trait?
EDIT: Finished both Monster Girl Quest chapters.
Excellent, EXCELLENT stuff right here. The story seems unoriginal at first look of the synopsis (sometimes I think we should just do away with them; they're misleading), but it's actually pretty damn awesome, especially the Middle Chapter. The First Chapter was kinda short (Although Luka's portrait looks much cooler than the Middle Chapter one) and truly felt like you're travelling around the world. I have not felt this adventurous, world exploration feeling in a very, very long time. Classic RPGs, Current sandbox games, science fiction, etc etc etc, they all failed to do this. I can't even remember exactly what game had made me feel like this in the past - it's just there, once upon a time. In such few words, too.
I personally think that the 'talking to people' choice system was probably one of the most important things that MGQ has revived in the VN. In the past we use to see those a lot where you just click ten million times to communicate with your cat or toilet and stuff - which can be tedious - but formed the basic core of interactive gaming. Current VNs lack that (or rather, unwilling to try out something new due to company constraints). Bringing it back with just the right amount of interaction made MGQ shone unlike any other RPG-Gameplay VN I've played before. I'll rate this No.2 in my list of Top RPG VNs after Eiyuu Senki since in the end it is quite simple (and in some cases scripted).
Luka is an interesting protagonist. He was shown to be kinda - as Alice would describe it - 'rainbow', but the stories later on clearly showed that that was not the case. He was neither naive nor stupidly optimistic, but actually thought through his actions clearly before applying them. Everything he does has a reason behind them, and while sometimes he does falter (like any people would) he wrestles away his hesitation or gets advices from Alice. That the little progresses were not overly dramatized is the biggest reason why Luka is so likable as a protagonist even though you can claim that he's a generic hero. Though the rape scenes are uh, less than appealing. I stopped watching them after getting Illias' scene because... ugh. >_>
Alice is another really interesting protagonist. That her sprite is beautiful is one thing, but clearly she shows the thoughtfulness and seriousness a ruler should possess. Throughout the journey - at least to me - she has not once shown any undesirable personalities traits, unlike so many goddamn failures of a heroine in some VNs. Most importantly, she is NOT HELPLESS. She is POWERFUL. She is the Monster Lord who:
That's some admirable spirit right there, no matter how childish her reasonings behind it were.
Speaking of childish, some of the storylines that I frowned upon was the:
All in all, can't wait to see the Final Chapter. This is an amazing VN and everyone should try it out at least once; won't even take too much of your time - two days for me to complete everything, with exam studies and other stuff in between. Good thing that they made it into 3 separate trilogies, each around let's see, 6-8 hours of gameplay? Might be longer depending on the difficulty you're playing on, but about that. Too bad that it lacks CG; I especially want to grab the Spirit ones - Gnome's ERD portrait is SO COOL - but can't find them in the Records or Monsterpedia. Sad. >_>
Illias character sprites are absolutely awesome for a goddess btw. MUCH, MUCH better than those gentle looking, dopy eye kawaii I SO PURE goddess/angels that we usually see.
EDIT 2: Now that I'm back to my boring, unexciting life (god I hate exams so damn much that I even lose inspiration for my stories), someone please save me by listing a few interesting recent VNs I can download and read. Please. Thanks.

Finished Sharin no Kuni and chose Touka's ending. The sudden dark turn around 3/4 of the way through was unappealing, and the final fight against the closest thing to a big bad was disappointing. The part after it seemed more like a climax, but I couldn't read it without becoming lightheaded and having to take a break. Hemophobia is a pain sometime. However, I found it to be rather enjoyable, being beaten only by Sachi's section.
Natsumi's character changed far too quickly, and it made it seem like she wasn't really suffering from what she was. She just hopped back and forth between her old, cheerful self, and her new, pessimistic self. Granted, she was opening up to Ken slowly, but it just felt rushed.
Touka's quarter was also awful, but that's because I couldn't stand Kyouko one bit. She was completely unfit as a parent and was the main reason why Touka kept her "obligation" much longer than she should have. I hate almost everything about Kyouko. Touka, on the other hand, I loved. Although her route focuses more on Kyouko's problem with being such a failure as a parent and taking out her past on Touka. It's ironic that it was painful for me to go through the route of my favourite girl. And not Rin from Katawa Shoujo painful, either.
Sachi's wasn't that enjoyable either, but I can sympathize with her. She's lazy and felt like doing nothing, and (supposedly) had a reliable income from the stock market. However, since the was hit with her "obligation" of having to spend 12 hours in a state of suspended animation, it's believable that she simply just gave upon trying to fix it. It's painful, but why bother when you can just buy it off? All she really had to do was wait for the stock market to give her enough money to buy it off. Although her route is more about teaching her the value of hard work than waiting long enough. Despite being my least favourite character (energetic, bright red hair) I liked her route the most.
Overall, it was a decent game. Not what I expected, but not something awful enough to make me stop halfway through and delete it.
Now starting on the bonus disk.
Edit: Got to Sachi and Touka's first H-scene before I decided I was done with them for the moment. Currently playing through the Natsumi route, and she is absolutely adorable!! She's by far my favourite girl out of the four, being on a completely different level from any other character. She's even way past Isono's level in terms of awesomeness! Which I'm not sure if that's good or bad, since Isono was tied with Onee-chan, who hardly qualified as an important character in the original, for my favourite character in a harem game.
Edit 2: Just finished Natsumi's route in the bonus disk. This is easily one of the best (short) routes I've ever went through! There were too many h-scenes when one considers the length (there were 3 of them,) but it's acceptable because I absolutely adore that route. It also began and ended with h-scenes. Very sad, since I was hoping for more content after the final one. I was so disappointed when it ended instead of continuing on for a few more hours. However! The epilogue was also enjoyable. Her entire route is full of WaFFs, and I love her so much for that. This more than makes up for the disappointment that was her route in the main game.
Edit 3: Finished Touka's route on the bonus disk. It was rather average, and I felt more excited to see some of Natsumi's lines than I did Touka's growth. The ending also really irritated me, since it never actually gave an answer to the most important point in the entire route: Does Isono actually get Kyouko? It's implied that she likes him, but there's never any information given as to whether they get together or not! So, I guess I prefer Natsumi and Isono to Touka. I also finished Natsumi's route first, so the comparison is a bit unfair.
Edit 4: Dropping what's left of the bonus disk. Turns out that Sachi's route is before the epilogue of the original. I'm also not interested in Houzuki's past, nor am I interested in Eri, who got not even a minute of screentime.
Now going through Saya no Uta, but I don't expect it to last long.
Edit 5: Finished Saya no Uta, in a single sitting. It's so short. It doesn't feel exceptional, but it doesn't suck either. I was able to predict everything that happened upon being given a hint or two, so there wasn't really anything that enhanced the story. The music was also bad, with the "panic" songs just sounding like a mess of instruments (which is actually fitting for a panic song) and the only good song was...well, average. It's not bad, but it's not something I recommend either.

[color=red]I've been slacking away from VN lately, and finally have some time to play.
Currently on [Vanadis] Mamono Musume-tachi to no Rakuen ~Slime & Scylla~
Just comedy so far, I'm planning to take the Scylla Maid route.
I'm planning for the Gakuen one next week.

Eh, let's see.
Tokyo Babel and the latest Sangoku Hime. Both I've barely scratched the surface, but are pretty awesome games to play.
As compared to the previous work, Sangoku Hime has improved by leaps and bounds on both artwork, gameplay, and even storytelling. Much, much better. The previous was such a boring game I can't even stand thirty minutes of it.
Tokyo Babel is another amazing storytelling VN. The atmosphere was set right from the very beginning, and I can see that people are starting to adopt to Type Moon's latest work's VN style.
EDIT 1: A beautiful story, Tokyo Babel. No H-scenes, but absolutely, absolutely beautiful. The violence, the injustice, the love, the obsession, the despair, the hope, angels, demons, humans, the world - beautiful.

So, I've decided to put My Girlfriend is the President on hold, maybe permanently because I can't seem to play more than 10 minutes at a time, and am now playing ChäoS;Head. I'm about midway through chapter 2 and so far it is fucking awesome.

I would not say it's bad, the characters are well made, the art is very good, and there are some genuinely funny moments, but it kind of just doesn't go anywhere. I've only played part of Yukino's route so I can't speak for the others, but I just feel like it should of been over already, I don't know maybe I just haven't got to the good part yet.

Puchin's route is both good and bad, with the first part being sweet and enjoyable, but the second part focusing mostly on sex. The final part is rather eh.
Ran's is below average. Nothing exceptional, and it focuses on some superhero stuff that Jun can't figure out despite being rather obvious.
Ell's was...
was...
I hated it. DBZ references aside, there's hardly anything genuinely good in it. The first part is about overcoming her fear of flying, and the second part is (again) about sex.
Basically, Puchin's route is the only one really worth playing, and you can ditch it once the sex part takes root. There's nothing exceptional after that begins.

Okay, played Sangoku Hime 2 and finished the route I thought the most interesting: Cao Cao.
... No as interesting as I had hoped. It took me about 3 days (Around 7-8 hours) of gameplay just to finish Cao Cao's route. And considering I just went with the main storyline and didn't conquer all the territories and practically skipped past uninteresting heroine texts (Stereotypes, so many stereotypes) I suggest that you... just choose one route and complete it. Much easier that way. Not to mention that it has so many other 'modes' that offers you specific heroine storylines, so I expect at least 100 hours of gameplay if you want to finish everything 100%. Not something I would ever do on such a game, lol.
My suggestion is: Choose a main route, complete it, then complete the Demon King (or whatever you call it) route. I personally think that it's more interesting than any of the main storylines, because looking at the CGs, it has the most epic scenes ever. The ONLY CG that smelled of war, blood and death, as a war-themed game should be. Not bloody swimsuits and the sea and >_>....
So first, storyline. The introductory scenes were incredibly well done that I keep expecting more out of the storyline and get crushed by reality again, and again, and again. >_> The following might be a little spoilerish, but if it's about 1 hour or less long so I'll just put it here without the tag (lazy).
Dong Zhuo was introduced as an absolute monster who slaughters and massacres people without mercy. His character sprite looked super epic. And then he died... Think I'm joking? Nope. You take him down, he tries to move to Luo Yang, and was promptly cut down by a mysterious warrior who I will not name right now. And then it turns out that everything he did was to lure this warrior out so he could meet her one last time.
... Not that I say that it's bad. In fact, that read very good, except that you give such a short-lived character such an epic sprite who has less than fifty lines and was promptly thrown away after less than 20 minutes of gameplay. Seriously, what a waste of good art. SERIOUSLY. DONG ZHUO LOOKED SO COOL I'D RATHER HAVE HIM AS THE PROTAGONIST. SERIOUSLY.
The events are a mess. I don't know whether it's because they give you less scenes because it's your first playthrough - to prompt you to play it the second time - but it's a totally bad idea from my PoV. I somehow managed to get 32% CGs on my first playthrough because I, like an idiot, though that I had to conquer the whole map and marched my troops all over the place. Hence many heroines. It made my life ten times easier than it would've been if I'd only followed the main storyline and conquered the places it mentioned, but that's beside the point.
Where was I again? Oh right, events, total mess. Most of the heroine scenes are TOTALLY UNRELATED to the side (Shu Wei Wu) they're in - which is understandable - but man. Suppose I get Zhao Yun. I hadn't check whether she has additional scenes if you play as Shu, but this incredible warrior who, in his biggest fight of authentic history, held off thousands of troops and killed tens of generals by himself as he tries to escape with Liu Bei's son, was portrayed as a person who cannot wait to have a picnic with the protagonist and like ALL OTHER HEROINES, can't wait to get into his bed.
... Sure, this is an ero game, but heck. Wth.
Main storyline is actually incredibly short, but I recommend that you take over as many territories as you can because some places like Yi Zhou and Jing Zhou has like twenty cities in it, and having only one or two troops may take a ridiculous amount of time - not to mention that crossroad cities (you'll get what I mean when you play the game) they WILL attack you. Rare, but they will, and that's very annoying - to capture.
Btw, do you know why it's short? Because when you completely capture a territory and progress the storyline, they promptly kill off important characters and SAYONARA. Like when I conquered Yuan Shao, they didn't even tell what happened to her and the other generals. They just... disappeared like the wind. Discarded. One second ago I was challenging you to an epic war of death, and the next second I'm off the screen! Yay!
At one point the story got even more ridiculous: To put thing shortly and spoilerish, a dead traitor comes back to life, took most of Jing Zhou's army, marched towards Shu, and boom! Defeated everyone and took over the entire territory. Supposedly killed off his biggest rival as well, which I had to assume the rival's guards (super infamous generals) died along her as well. But it was never mentioned so I have no idea. Oi. Oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi.
Gameplay. Very fun and much MUCH better than any of its previous games, although the UI can be a little annoying to handle. Firing troops takes too many actions is extremely annoying when you have like 50+ people, and you can't just click on the unit and fire them. Moving troops can be annoying as well; I was almost at the end of the game when I noticed that, at the bottom left of the window, there's a small button where you can click and exit to World Map instead of moving at the smaller map, crossing territories one by one and guessing. =_="
At any rate, great gameplay, LOTS of errors, HORRIBLE storyline, can get VERY tedious and boring like all RPG world conquering games do, but can be worth the time if you know what you're doing.
P.S: Man when is Monster Girl Quest Final Chapter gonna come out. >_>

By RPG, do you mean it plays like a JRPG, or Strategy RPG?
The final chapter will be out when it's done. Although I can hardly wait for it either. :3

Katawa Shoujo
Well, I mistaken it for a dating sim, so it now counts as my first visual novel ever played.
It's a bit long for me, even though I skipped many lines.
I managed, however, to finish 2 arcs: Eri and Shizune (I liked Shizune for the silent tsundere haha)
I haven't got the time to read the whole game, but I can already see that this VN has a really nice plot.

Strategy RPG, though JRPGs can be tedious as well. Korean RPGs are the most retardedly tedious games to play simply because you have to do a million actions and a million customizations to actually win the boss. There's one such game that I haven't finish simply because everything is sooooooo difficult to defeat. The mazes, the monsters, the bosses; god the bosses. At least they got the 'boss > creeps' thing right.
So far, the only world conquering strategy RPG Visual Novel that I did NOT find tedious and almost PERFECT to play is 英雄*戦姫 (Eiyuu Senki). It has the cleanest UI I have ever seen with a suitably interesting storyline, gameplay, and even cameo appearance of an infamous female character from the Rance series! xD
I also quite like Monster Girl Quest's scripted battle style. It may annoy some people who wants a challenge, but since you can change it to a 'normal' mode there's no problem there.

Still, it's possible to get through some JRPGs without grinding at all. Final Fantasy IX (hell, most of the series, even) is rather easy to get through without stopping at all to grind. However, I remember the first time I stumbled upon a KRPG. Most frustrating thing I've ever had to do, since I'm generally anti-grind.
Is the gameplay more like Yggdra Union, or Final Fantasy Tactics? I'm rather fond of one (but not so much the other) so I'm curious on which one it is to see if it's worth checking out for the gameplay.
I enjoyed using Quadruple Giga on the random Imp that's encountered near the end. "Even the Imp's screams are sealed..." indeed. It's kinda funny how I downloaded it for the laughs, but ended up loving the game. It's all so amazing~~
Also, your avatar feels rather warm. Just thought I'd say that.
