I'm cringing at this idea, Max Payne movie. The games are unimpressive and Max Payne himself isn't that likable, herbs a John Mclane (or however it's spelt) wanna be, even his mange is stupid (Payne).

its not just one its all, i've seen plenty of video games adapted to movies and they were bad, so why ruin it.I agree, frankly every movie they made based on a video game sucked

We all know that movies based on games aren't that great and yet HollyWood is still making shitty movies based on our childhood or recent love of a series. Have you seen Silent hill. That was actually good and I'm interested about the new film. Resident evil 1 was brilliant. It got resident evil brilliantly without bringing in the actual characters. it should have stopped there though.

It's been out for a while. It's good in my opinion. They got the atmosphere down nicely. I always liked Max Payne so that's probably why I like the film. Each to their own.
I'm waiting for the Mass Effect movie but I don't know what they'll do with it. And if they fuck it up like EA did.... Also I was exited about a Bioshock movie. But with all the stops in this, it will probably be a fuck up. >_>

Wolfenstein. There is no other video game franchise that I respect more than the grandfather of all FPS games. I was hurt badly by the DOOM movie replacing the iconic demons for boring mutants with the DOOM 3 monster design. The movie itself wasn't that bad as far as sci-fi action/horror flicks go, but it just shat all over the source material.
The only possible way I would give my blessing to a Wolfenstein movie is if John Carmack and/or John Romero were personally on the set, ready to bitch-slap the directer, should he get any "creative ideas" and try to mess with the game's lore.

So much shit could have gone better if the creator of the game/anime/cartoon/etc was on set saying where the boundries are. Last I heard Bioshocks creators were arguing about the funding of the film, not how it's being managed.
(Sigh)

I think Half-Life would make a terrible movie.
Nobody would be able to accurately depict Gordon Freeman.

Valve tried making a Half-Life movie. However, it never ultimately went through because nobody wrote a script good enough for Valve to approve of. Hell, some of them didn't even play the game before sending in a script.

yea, Valve is very very devoted to making sure their final product is quality stuff. other than people who don't like FPS games, i have never heard anyone say something bad about Valve games. having a shitty movie obviously would bother them so i highly doubt anyone will make one.
though on the topic of video game movies what if someone made one of Metal Slug? the creator mentioned an idea in the interview included in Anthology, and stated that Samuel L. Jackson would make a good Allen O' Neil.
