which is the best online game
which one is better?

It doesn't really matter which is "best". The only one that has had any real, lasting impression on current media is World of Warcraft. It has rolled all of its competitors, none stand against it.
btw, I play WoW, lol

WoW is utter trash, the greatest MMO made so far is Asheron's Call; hopefully Darkfall will follow in it's footsteps and produce a similarly high quality of gaming. Sandbox games are the best; the more options you have to make your character different, the better. Grinding for raid loot has never appealed to me in the slightest.

Asheron's Call better than WoW? Laughable :lol:These days AC is practically dead, but in terms of gameplay, character development and story; AC has WoW beaten hands down. It was sad that AC strayed from it's roots to make itself a more mainstream game, which certainly contributed to it's downfall. Still if I had a choice of playing AC now, or WoW. I'd still choose AC 100 out of 100 times.

Boo. No WoW? I played WoW for years and its the best. People say its TERRIBLE and WHAH WHAH WHAH! Well the fact remains... Over eight million 8,000,000 play that terrible game.
Lets do some math...
8,000,000 x 14
14 is the fourteen dollars all eight million subscribers have to pay
8,000,000 x 14 = 112,000,000
Now thats a twelve hundred million dollars. That is the base of what they make. Then you add in the fourteen dollar Name Changing service... The fourteen dollar Server Transfer... Thats probably a couple hundred thousand dollars... maybe even a million. Now I want you to tell me thats a bad game without feeling silly. WoW is the best online game out there.

WoW is terrible, regardless of how much money it makes, it shoves itself down the throat of people and suffocates other (better) MMO's out of existence. People only say WoW is better because they haven't actually played anything better, and therefore have no real standard to look to.
I don't feel silly at all when I say WoW is a bad game, bad and well marketed go hand in hand in this case.

You seriously sound like a crying little bitch that has a grudge towards a game cuz people rather play it than your favourite MMO...
Your argument doesn't even hold water. Fact remains that people who have played alot of diffrent MMO's still prefer WoW, and do you really think WoW would've gotten to where it is if it wasn't a good game?
No, it wouldn't, and even with all the free MMO's out there people still chose to stay with WoW. Why? Because it rapestomps all the other MMO's.
Have you even tried WoW?
This pathetic WAAHH-im-so-awesome-cuz-im-hating-on-WoW bandwagon bullshit is old.
WoW has been at the top since 2005 and kept it's crown for a reason.

Some people prefer WoW, each to their own. Most have not played a game like AC :) I'm unsure where exactly I was whining in my post, but i'll attribute that to your imagination. I'm not saying I'm happy that people left my game to play WoW, but to be honest AC was going downhill anyway and never had that many people to begin with.
Still a better game imo, I don't jump on bandwagons, I did not like WoW - it's formulaic and player skill doesn't really matter, the only thing that really sets you apart from another player is gear.... I don't like that kind of game.
WoW is a bad game by my own standards, subjective - I don't care who else likes WoW or not, I'm voicing my opinion on a forum. I'd say that my argument does hold a lot of weight, the majority of WoW players will not have played another MMO beforehand. They can enjoy the game, but can't properly critique it as they have nothing to reference it against.
What do you compare WoW to and say that it's better? In what way is it better than AC?
WoW has been top - but in that time Turbine have proven that they cannot effectively market a game.

I have no problem with you not liking WoW, what i have a problem with is that you're trying to make it sound like it's a fact that the only reason WoW is succesful is good marketing, which doesn't hold up seeing as millions of people keep paying every month to keep playing WoW, something they wouldn't do if the game in fact sucked.
WoW is not called the gaming world's drug for nothing, a bad game does not keep you playing.

It's more likely that all the gamers playing free MMO's haven't tried out WoW and keeps bashing it cuz they're too poor to play it than the other way around.
Like i said, there's alot of players that have tried diffrent free MMO's out there but still decides to pay for WoW each month.

Stuff like when the whole server had to help gather supplies to open the gates of Ahn qiraj, and the server wide invasion that followed is an experience that the others hasn't come anywhere near to achieving.
And Blizzard gives you what most other games makes you pay for in their patches.
The latest expansion shows that WoW just keeps on delivering, the positive reviews it's gotten all over the place speaks for it self.
Bad games/expansions do not get positive reviews.
Both the expansion packs has sold millions, millions of people would not go and buy the expansion to a game that suck. Fact.
WotLK is also the fastest selling PC game ever, beating the previous record holder with 400k units, the previous record holder was the previous WoW expansion TBC btw.
Millions of people do not run to the store and make the expansion to something that suck the fastest selling PC game ever. Fact.
I know there's people out there that doesn't like it, ofc there is, there's nothing that doesn't have it's share of haters.
But saying it's only popular because of marketing? Fuck no, that ain't holding.
It has the most players, and it keeps on growing, because it's the best. It's that simple (Occam's razor if you will).
As a last thing, may i ask how much you've played WoW, and how far did you get?

I accept that it's addictive, and my bias against WoW is driven from having played games that are better? You want global events? AC tops the list easily; BZ, Martine etc. WoW is not the best MMO, it pales in comparison to AC's ingenuity and class. Like I have said: it is a bad game by my standards, in my opinion. I've played a lot of MMO's myself, and the number of players WoW has is not in proportion to how good of a game it is. AC has/had monthly patches and expansions, I don't see what WoW has on AC at all. Not enough people know/knew about AC. WoW was well marketed so though it is an inferior game, it has had more players.
WoW is where it is because of marketing - dispute it all you like, but if WoW had the same marketing that other games e.g. AC had.......then it would certainly not be the phenomenon it is today. More people may still play it, but if that is the case then more people enjoy games that lead you by the hand.
It's doubtful anything I say would be enough by your standards; But it was more than enough for me, I really could not stand it. Like I couldn't stand DAOC or LOTRO... The major problem I have with it is the fact that you are not different to the person next to you, there is no real way you can stamp your influence upon the world. Everything is too simple, click and shoot - wait for it to recharge, then shoot again. Don't the pointless collect so many of this, kill so many of that quests really get on your nerves? Especially as you're not really doing anything while you do it.
Meh, reviews I'll give one example: On IMDB, AC is rated higher, than WoW or any of it's expansions.
In WoW I feel you have no individuality, a world without instances is what I crave; which is what Darkfall provides. How much did you play AC?

Personally I think WoWs success lies with its uniquley made graphics which makes it playable EASILY and looking good on anyones computer. Having a piece of shit computer which can't play WAR on the lowest settings without a shitstorm of a lag I can see why so many people play WoW. You don't have to buy a thousand dollar computer just to have fun with an MMO. I'm not saying thats the only reason... It has a lot to offer to players. Its OLD ok so its not the most innovated game but its stood the test of time.
Also I'm not a WoW fanboy. I hate the game... ...ever since they added achievements anyways... I quit the moment they came out. I'm playing an MMO not XBOX Live

Ahhh WAR and WoW, both kinda come across as canned MMO to me. I actually pre-ordered WAR and now strongly regret it. Hmmmm on the subject of a computer, have you tried buying off the internet? You can get a much better deal than you can at a high street store. Asheron's Call is a superb game with ridiculously low minimum requirements, I mean......32mb ram?? :D

Well what I said was true, and the points I brought up were accurate. When I said I wasn't going to tell you how much I have played it was with good reason. I doubt I've played enough for you to say: okay your opinion is perfectly valid, rather than saying - maybe when you've played for another 6 months you can start to comment. lol

On the subject of the IMDB ratings; if we look at both and compare the number of players they had at their peak, AC only had 120,000 accounts at it's peak - WoW has 11 million players, so in this case these 7 votes for AC should count as 700 instead ;) (Sorry about that - I really should have paid more attention there, IMDB is usually such a reliable source.)
You've said that WoW is a good game because it is enjoyed by millions of people and the community is second to none. I dispute that based on reasons I have mentioned above and my own experiences with the old AC community. AC had tons of live events, it was just brilliant :)

WoW is bad when I compare it to AC, dispute the reasoning if you will. But this is how I feel, it is my opinion - against yours - with you saying that WoW is better. But you haven't actually come up with anything yet to sway me. Like i said, i don't care if you like AC better, i don't need to argue about that, and im not out to convert you either.
But what i do find arguable is when you say that "from my experiences" players you've meet from WoW have not played other MMO's, did you meet all 11 million of them? Or just like 10 people? Im going for the later.
You thinking that players that have played both games and prefered WoW is ridiculous is..yeah ridiculous, that is, again, just you not wanting to accept that some people (the majority) likes WoW more.

You've said that WoW is a good game because it is enjoyed by millions of people and the community is second to none. I dispute that based on reasons I have mentioned above and my own experiences with the old AC community. AC had tons of live events, it was just brilliant :) And im sure you had a nice time with AC, but just because you had that doesn't mean everyone had it.
That's like saying "Oh this sandwhich with turds in it tastes awesome!" and start selling with the expectations of it being a big hit, cuz obviously everyone likes the same as you, right?
Also, you cannot dispute something that is a fact...
You can give your opinion about it, but the fact remains, and i quote:
WoW is a good game because it is enjoyed by millions of people and the community is second to none

Why don't you tell me why you didn't like AC? Even if you're unwilling to tell me how long you played it for.I've never said i didn't like AC? I've said i prefer WoW over it.
And how about you tell me how long you played WoW and i'll tell you how long i've played it.
The points were accurate to my knowledge and from my experience, if you really think about it; with the number of people WoW has brought to the MMORPG market, it makes sense that the majority of them have only played WoW. Certainly most of the people I have spoken to answer with something along the lines of "I don't need to try any other game, WoW is enough for me".
WoW is fun for some people, it is the right game for some people, it is not right for me. As for my first comment regarding WoW being utter trash, well: that is what it is to me. I've played WoW as much as I could stand, level 58 - higher than 10, also higher than I ever wanted to go.
WoW's community is second to none in terms of size, but whether or not it is the "best overall" community is certainly open to debate based on each player's subjective experience. It did not have the best community for me. I wouldn't view it as a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination.
AC did not have the level of notoriety that WoW does; I doubt most WoW players even know it exists: that is the difference, that is the point I am trying to get across. You can't say that something is better based on how successful it is when those it is competing with are not even given a chance.
From those I have spoken to regarding AC and WoW, almost invariably they preferred AC. Some liked WoW better, each to your own - if you prefer a simple skill tree, and nice, comfortable recharging skills to a dynamic in-game physics system - then that is your own choice.

You can't say that something is better based on how successful it is when those it is competing with are not even given a chance.I can however say it's a better game due to the fact that it is a better game, which you don't agree with, tough luck, but everyone doesn't agree that AC is better.
Now, even if all of those 11 million haven't played AC the fact still remains that there's people who have indeed played both still prefer WoW.
Why? Because they think it's superior, me being one of them.
If the some prefer AC then shit, go for it, not like it's bothering me.

If i ask my m8's it'll probably be the opposite, and they tend to play alot of MMO's.

Do people feel more l33t if it's more complicated or something?
As long as the gameplay is fluid there shouldn't be any complaints.

WoW simple?
Let's get some facts straight allright. Now I'm a retired WOW player but I still got to lvl 80 before I left. My character is Zellgadus and I had full tier 6 only thing that never dropped were Glaives.
Now Wow is always an evolving game the reason why I stopped playing is with the release of the Lich King everything became really easy.
Before Blizzard releases their easy patches so that the whole of WOW community can access all those high end dungeons; Don't forget that there were people busting their ass off 5 sometimes even 7 nights a week in there building those strategy guides you used. (The you here is a general you no one is targetted)
WoW is one of the most skill based games MMO's IMO. I played the game since it's release in 2004 and I got in touch with great communities. It always depends on your server and guild usually. Seriously though; PVP, ARENA, HIGH END DUNGEONS. Everything requires skill. Now my main was a rogue and people used to say how easy it is to play a rogue. However I also had most of the other classes as other 70s. Trying to get 40 people together for raids and downing 4 Horsemen PRE-BC was still one of the biggest achievements I had in that game. Also downing MURU in BC pre-patch. None of that was easy it demanding time consuming wipes and perseverance. I haven't found that kind of involvement and time//game addiction in any other game. Leaving aside the pros and cons of playing an MMO, I refuse to accept calling WOW a simple or lesser type of game. You ever tried to play ARENA in 2s 3s and 5s and reaching and staying at the 2200 rating or higher?
Enuff said.

^I think he meant that even a new player can get into WoW pretty fast due to it's easy interface/layout designs and choices, it's nothing you need to sit and learn for 2 hours.
Atleast that's what i thought he meant.
Having you talk about 40 man dungeons made me nostalgic man, i remember downing Onyxia or Ragnros for the first time waaaay back.
Ahh those were the times.
