In a normal sense, you'd be right, but this plays with hentai rules. So in that sense, everything goes out the window.

Honestly didn't expect the vanilla ending. Happy that it happened. Feel that the exhibitionist stuff Katagiri kinda pushed her into was kinda out of place and was just done to do it instead of being something that felt "natural" for either character.

Glad this wrapped up well. Polinky (Hori Hiroaki in some circles) has such a distinctive style. I can only think to describe it as "indulgently vulgar": very exaggerated body proportions, lush depictions of genitalia, marathon rounds of sex, etc. So when that style gets applied to these sorts of passionate love stories the mismatch makes for a memorable read.

I was right. The family decided with the stuff that was going down, removing the abuser was the most expedient path for them saving face. But mental institution, eh? That's a pretty old-fashioned way to get rid of someone.

I hate to be harsh, but it's about the most lamebrained ending I've
ever read---especially for a series with so much dramatic potential.

It depends.
Since reading hentai is supposed to be a pleasant, "uplifting"
experience, most fans (including myself) prefer stories with
a happy ending. However, if a chapter sets up an obviously
dark scenario, we expect a proper sequel, even if it means
an unhappy ending.

This ending was hinted at, though, in the previous chapter. I agree that it feels rushed and seems to paint over the part where he beat the abuser half to death. I expected a bit more from the police and a bit more explicit of a erasure from the rich family members, but the outcome is more or less what I expected - the abuser being taken care of behind the scenes silently, especially since he was already on thin ice with the family.

I certainly don't mind a happy ending, but (like yourself) I also enjoy
a dark tale in which things go from bad to worse to plain awful, until
the story (logically) reaches a deliciously unhappy ending.

Not just "rushed," but implausible. For one thing, we're supposed
to believe the police have no further interest in Katagiri, who beat
a man almost to death. It's like Chapter 2 never happened.

EDIT:
We're also supposed to believe the police have no further interest
in Arisa, who was an accomplice to her husband's grand larceny.

All those interesting plot threads were swept aside just so we can
watch a lunkhead ride off into the sunset with a damaged woman.

Well, I will say this had a very un-Polinky vibe bc of the ending and it did feel rushed. It's almost as if he/she had a idea of a positive resolution to the story but wanted to end the series quickly.

What is with hentai artist backing off of the deep end? Puppy Rondo and this had the potential to put me off hentai for a week, but instead put me off hentai for a week. I will still read, but it will be like eating for sustenance rather than enjoyment.

In the preceding two chapters, Polinky set up a gripping
noir scenario that had "tragic ending" written all over it,
and then he chucked the whole thing for a sappy happy
ending. What the hell? I wish it had been a delusion.

After all the (literal) Deep Shit of the first two chapters, Polinky-sensei seemingly went: "Surprise, Mo-Fo's ... Vanilla-laced Fantasy Happy Ending!"
