Best friend cum sex friend. I'm actually not entirely sure if either of them want to make the jump to a proper relationship but I can see both sides showing potential interest, though the dude is easier to read since we have his perspective. Usually longtime friends don't end up fucking in the first place which is where the biggest problem of dating your longtime friends comes from, but if they're already past that weirdness, then I don't see why they couldn't make the jump. One of them just needs to start the conversation. I honestly don't think Hanamori would turn him down if he brought it up. Whether it would last is another story, but even if they did break up I bet they'd just go back to the relationship they have now like it was some sort of random misstep. Haha
