Cultural Note:
Prostitution is extremely widespread in Japan, with a higher level of acceptance
than in the West. A lot of Japanese women simply assume their husbands and
boyfriends will visit a brothel or dial up a call girl once in a while. So Shiraki has
no qualms about initiating a fling with a guy who frequents a soapland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Types of Prostitution in Modern Japan
Cultural Note: Pachinko is wildly popular in Japan. Revenue from the game accounts
for almost six percent of the country's GDP---more than Vegas, Macao,
and Singapore combined. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachinko
This chapter is remarkably realistic. Shiraki & Takashima are just
a couple of ordinary people who spend too much time and money
playing pachinko, and there's no guarantee their new sexual rela-
tionship will lead to romance.
Takashima-san might just need a little time for it to register that just maybe Shiraki-san is exactly what he may have been looking for, as opposed to his usual fare (soap-girls).
What Takashima really wants (without knowing it yet) is real love
and affection, which you can't buy from a sex worker. That's why
he keeps asking for a kiss from Shiraki.
I now need them dating and then married asap!
There's something about Oosaki's art that makes it perfect for the sexy, long hair, "gloomy" girl look.
Also... The Real Me needs / deserves a sequel!
