Collecting 100 full-color pages and featuring 48 different Japanese manga, v-tuber and anime artists, Black Tights features some of the best illustrators in modern Japan with stockings as their primary theme, WIDE shifts its gaze as it focuses mostly on thighs. Once again the TIGHTS project is overseen by beloved cover artist and art director, Yom; who concludes the release with another lively interview with artists featured in this collection.

Yom is extremely unique in Japan's pop culture world. An illustrator by trade Yom has been creating illustrations on social media platforms since 2015. Starting around 2018 he began to expand into self-publishing and soon released a series of zines entitled TIGHTS. The TIGHTS series became a cult hit, eventually resulting in an animated web-video series called Miru Tights (2019). Yom would then pivot towards editing artbooks for Japan's GOT Books, once again focusing on leggings for most of his releases.

It focuses on thighs?? Sign me up! If you loved the other Yom artbooks, it's a no brainer picking this one up as well.

Edit: Beautiful girls wearing (or kinda wearing) tights of varying denier, as expected. Love reading various illustrators' thoughts on tights! 5/5

A sweet collection

It's really what you expect it to be: a collection of colored illustrations with a focus on tights from a variety of artists. The range in artistic styles is pretty vast so expect an all of the above approach with some focusing on feet, others focusing on thighs, and others yet barely focusing on the tights at all. The interviews are a nice touch, and altogether the presentation is quite good. If you think you're interested, you should go for it. The only question is whether to go for paperback, which is made more expensive by the coloration, or digital. I went paperback myself, and I don't regret it because the way some of the illustrations play with light was worth it, but I wouldn't fault anyone for going the digital route either. It's a lovely little collection and I would recommend it for any tights enthusiasts or even just anyone who likes art books.

Black Tights for the Win

Pretty much what to expect is tights, tights and more tights. A lot of these images are well composed. And this book reads more like an art book. The colours really pop and most if not all the outfits are pretty, all highlighting the tights and with very little being garish. Having so many art styles benefit this book with no two pages looking the same keeps each page fresh. This is art, not so much porn, so keep that in mind.

All the pictures in this artbook are really well drawn. The short interviews with each of the artists are very cool as well.

More black tights, again

And now we have Black Tights, part 3. You can refer to https://www.fakku.net/hentai/black-tights-english for the overview of the general format of the book, as this one is yet again the same structure as the first two.

This time we're up to 46 artists, so we seem to be getting two more contributors in each artbook. Overall they're sticking to what works, black tights with lots of legs, so for fans of #1 and #2 I suggest keeping up with the set and getting #3.
