I actually really like this guy. He accepts the fact that she has someone she likes now after she told him and is perfectly willing to end his relationship with her so that she can be happy, and even insists they stop for the sake of her new relationship.
I mean he knew the day would come, and when it did, he gracefully steps down for the sake of her happiness. I can certainly respect that. Their relationship was a close one, definitely deeper than simple sex friends, I'd say.
