i call it experimenting. He does have the artstyle to draw cute vanilla stories. But those crazy stories like the Rooftop one or the one with girl teasing that other poor guy show that he can also write some pretty good darker stories. Then there's that other one with the SAVAGE mindbreak that takes it to the extreme. Versatility!

...Well, I will admit I was somewhat surprised at his...choice of clothing/hairstyle after joining the workforce. Almost made me think he'd start acting a little...douchey? I'm happy to say that wasn't what happened though.
