You’re factoring in the subtle details in the story (setting, lovemaking affections, etc., nothing wrong with that) in contrast to what I’m looking at, which is the overall theme of the story. That is why this tale doesn’t seem to me different from any other regular cheating story. My take is the wife is just looking for an adventurous, covert good fuck from some dude and not a romantic relationship, but instead of a scenario involving the pool boy or a frat house full of horny dudes, it's her brother-in-law. She did talk about the real-life problems many are experiencing during the pandemic – the hidden incompatibility festering that a lot of couples are experiencing that they didn’t know they had. By saying that, it seems that she’s looking for sympathy or maybe even justification for her actions but naturally, it's a weak, unjustifiable excuse. I mean, indeed you don't see him but if the hubby has to travel to his job, then he’s likely to be making some risks to help provide for the both of them; all she does is dart to the younger brother's place during her free time and shoves his cock down her throat. There was also the phone call. And then what seems like an often-done occurrence, she drinks with the brother, which makes it seem that she is looking for having a good time and not to have a credible quality relationship, like she’s trying to relive her college days or something.

As for what you said about the younger brother, yep, 100% agreed. The wife does the typical ingenuous cheater act but she looks like Mother Teresa compared to him. I mean, I realize a reader needs to separate fantasy from real life but this one has some potent real life correlation, the times we’re living in now and personal relationships. I’m not sure how you can grow up with someone and see every day and then nonchalantly throw that time out when you realize he happened to marry a slut. So, I don’t think he was actually in love with her but sometime in the past he realized she was an easy lay, which was kind of exemplified when he said that incredibly absurd one-liner that inexplicably impressed her.

Seems vanilla to me because they both act like they are in love with each other. There is no deprave nature to it. The husband has no presence so he might as well not exist. They kiss, they blush, and make love.

EDIT: It puts no malicious intent on the brother or wife. Even though it puts in the effort to show that the husband did call her so he probably cares about her. I think cheating and NTR is hot because I like dirty fantasies but when it comes off as vanilla it just ruins it for me. I mean come on, she falls for the brother's basic ass lines like "Don't worry, mankind will survive" and she's like "maybe that's why I fell for you and fled from home."

I mean for fucks sake. Skip the bullshit. The brother isn't a good dude. Not only did he sleep with a married women but he literally slept with his brother's wife.
