Karma Tatsuro specializes in weird (but lighthearted) tales.
If you want the straightforward stuff, I recommend his book,
Another's Wife, which contains fifteen of his early chapters,
only one of which is truly weird.

Still, even Karma Tatsuro's most straightforward stories
(like this chapter) tend to feel a little quirky, as if they're
set in a world where reality is ever-so-slightly askew.

Well, this is another Karma Tatsuro story that I’ll favorite. It seems she formed an emotional bond with the older guy thru the years and once she reached maturity she had no problem making the sexual jump with him once she had a chance to. The sex might have resulted from a combination her wanting to pity fuck him (“Why isn’t Mr.X married and by himself all the time?”) and escalating attraction she’s had for him.

That was kuudere until the final page, then it recontextualized her into tsundere. Her "I don't care" attitude was actually bullying him. Also depending on if Shimizu was dating the other boy there is a dash of NTR and yandere. Yandeee is the only -dere that lies to get their love, in my opinion. All -deres are not truthful with their feelings, but Yans can be harmful.

Yeah, femdom seems way too strong of a tag to describe what Kaoru did here. I wonder if there is term for what gals like what Kaoru did in this story - a term that describes when a gal is honest with her feelings and goes after what she wants but doesn't want to degrade her partner in anyway.

she just went ahead and did it (which is her assertive side),
but she didn't make a big deal out of it, either (which is her
kuudere side). Truly fascinating. I'd like to see more of her.

As you say, I think Kaoru's been fond of the old dude for a long
time, but even when she finally expresses her affection for him,
she isn't overly emotional, in keeping with her kuudere side.

@ H-Connoisseur She is fascinating. I think it is inferred that she really became fond of him as she grew up. She was probably waiting a chance to be intimate with him but needed him to give her some sort of a green light, which was the invitation he gave to her in jest.

so I don't see the femdom angle, either.

Upon further reflection, I have decided that Kaoru is difficult
to classify because she's an assertive kuudere, which is rare,
since kuudere are usually placid, reserved, and nonassertive.
She's actually quite an appealing, fascinating character.

She's also rather assertive---as indicated by her cute
tsurime (upward-slanting) eyes---which supports your
woman-getting-what-she-wants impression.

Tsurime eyes can also indicate either a tsundere
or a kuudere, which supports my impression.

I believe the argument could be made that is what femdom is, in it's most basic sense. Though the woman is usually a bit sadistic and perhaps even cruel to her 'partner'.

Also, she never pushes him around, or forces him to do anything
