The art is good; While I wouldn't say it's my most preferred style, it's pleasant to look at and composed well (more or less). However, all or at least most of the panels feel... cramped, for lack of a better term. It's like the camera is always zoomed super far in and it often obscures details that I would have preferred to be visible. It weirdly feels both nicely detailed and lazy, like there was only so much the artist was willing to draw and zoomed into the final piece to compensate for where the lines ended. It could be an attempt to really draw the reader into the situation and make them feel immersed, but for me at least, it often made me feel more impartial to the world.
Story and character-wise... while I can't say it's bad, it just feels a little empty. The characters don't really have the spark of life like in other works you could read on this site or other hentai, even. They not only appear to serve no other purpose in this work other than to fulfill a fetish, they truly feel like they do have no other purpose. With that said, the story fetish is delivered competently, and it's a slightly rare one too (in these parts anyway), so it's hard to complain too much. But here I am regardless.
The two stories are about 15 pages each (15 for Gender Swap Spot, 12 for Nalis) so clearly there's only so much room for deeper content. And you do just get straight to the point, no needless faffing about, which can be appreciated, I will always say. I think it would have been better to include one more story from this paring of writer and artist, but maybe that just doesn't exist. And I was aroused by this... but I cannot recall if I ever orgasmed to it. I think I could, but it would take a little more effort I think.
I'm gonna draw comparisons to this and Kuratsuka Riko's I Wanted to Have a Lesbian Get a Taste of My Cock, but I Got Turned Into a Girl Instead, seeing as I reviewed that earlier. I feel it's an interesting comparison, as each has something over the other one. I like the art more in Gender Swap & Nalis, (partly because it dives into slightly gooier territory), and I also prefer the story setup more than I Wanted to etc. (I think I have a slightly preference for guy-on-girl, sorry). But I still liked the story more in I Wanted you-know-the-rest; the characters were definitely clichés, but at least that's more than what Gender & Nalis had, and I got to see the character transform, which is a neat bonus. They both have pretty simplistic art and share a "get to the point" attitude, but they emphasis different qualities of this approach: G&N tries a little harder in the art, and I Want tries to tell its little story as best it can. So it kinda balances out.
In the end, I think the preview pages, more so than in any other case, give someone a great impression of what the rest of the hentai will be like, esp. since it almost goes up to the end of the first story, rendering my review even more moot. So take a look at them, and decide if it's worth seeing the rest of it based on those preview pages, because it will be exactly like that for the rest of the pages; nothing less, nothing more.
