For a moment I thought this would be a Dorohedoro fan chapter, because the art style was so great...

Been a couple days since we got a wholesome story. The artstyle might not be for everyone but I really like the dream-like quality it has, it really makes the cuter panels feel wistful and intimate. I'm definitely going to be following Ruriiro Sugar's stuff from here on out.

IMHO, this came rather close to being added to my "Deep Shit" collection, but the Vanilla factor held out just barely. Since it was not depicted, we may only guess whether Micchan and Taro were subjected to a Parent Inquisition the next day (*koff-koff*). Then again, the father suggesting that Micchan could use Taro's room suggests that he at least suspected the possibility that "something could happen".
At least it ended on a suitably good note ... enough for me to say: "Yo Dawg, That was Deep ... not necessarily Deep Shit, but still Deep.", as well as "APPROVED!"

Ruriiro Sugar's work tends to be rather dark---not in any explicit
way, but in the sense that a vague shadow seems to be hanging
over everything. Even his "vanilla" chapters are subtly eerie.

Like an awareness of the fragility of the moment always hangs over the whole thing.
Definitely gonna check out the author's other work :)
