For your broader point, it really depends on the context. The worst stories are the ones where a character (typically the FMC) sleeps around with the goal of eventually getting the MC they've loved all along. Those FMCs separate sex from love and that's an undesirable trait for a committed relationship. If the FMC go their separate ways, try to form committed relationships that just don't work out, then reunite and sparks immediately fly, then those are to good stories that are more realistic to how these things can go in real life.
