Who wants to decode and translate the mermaid's language? There's a pattern to it, you can tell since she uses the same symbol over and over when she moans.

Mizone presents Nyaptu's language with such care and consistency
that I'm certain the glyphs have real meaning and can be translated
into English or Japanese.

For example, on page 20, panel 1, Nyaptu is clearly saying, "I love you,"
but Inoue doesn't understand, which leaves her flustered and frustrated.
So we feel her joy when she finally grasps the English term, "Love you,"
which is a wonderfully poignant moment.

I'd tap that so hard, I'd make fish sticks.

Hmm, and hey, we're getting some bits and pieces of information about the Oni girl and her relationship, but not yet a chapter focused on it. Maybe eventually, but for now, I find this couple to be quite the adorable one! It started out as a bit of a friendly rivalry, until he saved her and then they became good friends, and he eventually came to love her.
Great confession though. He might have thought she wouldn't understand, but the sincerity of his words and affection behind them must have gotten through to her. And hey, they might not speak the same language, but it seems she's picking up some phrases as they make love and maybe someday, he can come to understand her language a little more too.
I really love this series, and I definitely would love to see more of it. A LOT more.

Pop Culture Note:

"Nyaptu" has a distinctly Lovecraftian sound.  The Japanese love HPL's stories,
which have influenced many writers and artists (like Junji Ito), so the mermaid's
name is probably meant to conjure up thoughts of a certain aquatic race created
by HPL.  From the Wiki:

"The Deep Ones are creatures in the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.  The beings
first appeared in Lovecraft's novella, 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth' (1931), but were
already hinted at in the early short story 'Dagon.'  The Deep Ones are a race of intel-
ligent ocean-dwelling creatures, approximately human-shaped but with a fishy appear-
ance.  They regularly mate with humans along the coast, creating societies of hybrids."
