...Well, it certainly had potential to be a Vanilla, if the ending was different.
But I guess the twist being that she was not only not suicidal, but is just putting up an act to hunt for guys was somewhat unexpected...Even if I had hoped for the orthodox Vanilla type story.

Ah, what a way to misjudge the guy in the end, but then again, he probably wasn't what she wants right now in any case. Might still be a good idea to keep the card in case she does actually need his help at some point, though.

I rarely find myself agreeing with your comments here, but I definitely do with this one. We always hear how men are said to be not willing to commit and only out to get some sex, but women these days are no different.

I rather like the twist. We've had at least one really sweet 'save the jumper' toned vanilla this past year, so I don't mind something more cynical.

Well I like this was straight to the point and didn't give that happy ending BS I always read. A nice real world pace is good once in a while

Happy endings aren't innately 'false'... the concept of endings, besides death, are. Whatever ending you give a story is simply where you stopped following the characters. This ending suited the story. That's what makes it work.
