"How did it turn out this way"? Well...Hentai "Relaxation Service". Still, I wonder how he would react if he knew that she was actually a ghost...Makes me wonder if he'd try going back to meet her again.

Only Souichirou can see the ghostly "receptionist" (page 2, panel 1).
Apparently, she manifested herself only for him because he "looked
like someone [she] used to love" (page 16, panel 6).

Various sanguinary apparitions appear on page 2, panel 3, and on
page 3, panels 2 and 4.

Eri is unfamiliar with current electronic technology (page 5, panel 6),
which suggests she died a long time ago.

Even if it turned out to be merely a rather pleasant 'casual' encounter between Souichirou and Eri, it still worked out IMHO to be a better love story than "Ghost".

EDIT: Seems Eri's fellow ghosts went all "OOGA BOOGA BOOGA!" on Souichirou's senpais ... it remains to be seen whether the shit was scared out of them either figuratively or literally.

That was Masato-sensei's most spirited release, though a real pairing didn't have a ghost of a chance. I hope that boy made a good memory, I'd hate for him to be haunted. Though I'm glad the hospitality wasn't that grave.
