A. Have you tried compatibility mode? You can right click on the game.exe and go to settings and change the compatibility to xp service version 3 or windows 7.

B.Windows has this thing about not letting programs mess around in Program Files (at this point you are free to say "wat"), so if you have it in C:\Program Files (or localized equivalent name) you might want to move it to somewhere else (I suggest going a head and making the folder C:\VNs 'cause it looks all neat and pro).

C. Try running it in admin mode or if you doing that... run it in user. Right click the exe and there a tab 'Run as administrator'

D. uninstall win 8. Use win 7
