The deck's theme is removal but there is no 1 dominating strategy, a match with this deck can go any number of ways, all devastating.



The groundwork of this deck came from Tormented Soul (1drop 1/1 unblockable, cant block), one of my favorite Black cards of all time. After doing research, I also found Inkfathom Infiltrator, basically just Tormented Soul but a 2/1 instead of a 1/1.
9 times out of 10, these guys will be your opening creatures. The beauty of Tormented Soul and Inkfathom Infiltrator is they can only be removed by, well removal. As soon as they drop they'll be chipping away at the opponent until he can take no more.
Also complimenting Tormented Soul and Inkfathrom Infiltrator is Ogre Marauder, a 3/1 with a fun ability- he can only be blocked if the defending player sacrifices a creature. Mwahaha! Take 3 or lose a creature, possibly to creatures if the blocker is weak enough.
Keeping to your Murders, Unmakes, and GftTs for defense, chipping away at your opponent with these unblockable bastards is how most games with the deck are won. (Using those three removals a given for any strategy, really.)

But those guys aren't the only stars of this deck.
Gatekeeper of Malakir can be dropped for 3, and target opponent must sacrifice a creature- for that is the toll for entering Malakir. Wouldn't wanna live there.
Royal Assassin always stops an opponent in his tracks, with his ability to destroy any tapped creature. A fierce opposing field can be frozen in place with just one Royal Assassin- imagine how your opponent will react to 2 or 3.
Ah, Vampire Nighthawk. a 3drop 2/3 Flying Deathtouch Lifelink. Need I say more?
Desecration Demon causes scoops half the time. When your opponent has already been battered down by your removals and then sees the newcomer, a 6/6 Flyer who can only be stopped by sacrificing creatures, they'll usually lose hope.
Toshiro Umezawa is a unique gamechanger in this deck. His ability allows you to play any instant in your graveyard again if an opponents creature is put into a graveyard.
Lemme put it this way. You have 6 swamps out, 1 murder in hand, Toshiro on the field.
Tap 3, BAM, murdered an opponents creature. Tap another 3, BAM, use that same Murder to get rid of a second creature. Eh? Eh?
Liliana of the Dark Realms really needs no explanation, more Swamps means more removal. Fun!
Demon's Horn is in here too- whenever a black spell is played, gain 1 life. Seems slightly out of place, but I've gained looooads of life off of this beauty.

Alright. Now here is the wombo combo.
Wanna have a 9/9 Flying Trampler on turn 2? Of course you do.
Demon of Death's Gate is always fun to draw into mid-game, cuz usually you can afford his alt-cost at that point if things are going your way.



But forget that. You want him on turn 2.
Its very rare, but very possible.
Your oppening hand must be the following:
Demon of Death's Gate x1, Tormented Soul x3, Swamp x2. The rest can be whatever.
Turn 1: Swamp, Tormented Soul.
Turn 2: Swamp, Tormented Soul, Tormented Soul, sac all 3, pay 6 life, Demon of Death's Gate.
Bam. Turn 2 9/9 Flying Trampler.
This CAN be modified to happen on Turn 3 or 4, depending on your hand. Both still very good.

Thats about it as far as using the deck goes.
It ran me around $50 or $60 if I recall....
