Not at all. It's probably the best one. Vuze is also good but is bloated with useless features and takes up quite a lot of system resources. uTorrent is very light on system resources and has lots of great features, such as the ability to download even if the tracker is down. That means that if you were using a lesser torrent program, you'd think there were no seeds or peers but using uTorrent you'll see some seeds and peers and be able to download it.

Just write something like 25666 in for the uTorrent port. It only really matters in two situations: (a) you have a shitty ISP that blocks certain ports. (b) you have a router.

In the case of (a) if you enter a port number that is blocked by your ISP, your torrent program won't be able to connect properly (or at all) and you'll get very slow download speeds (or none at all). Just keep changing the port number in uTorrent until you get the green icon at the bottom. In fact, if you click on the icon at the bottom (you'll have either a green one, a yellow one or a red one - see the pic below for where the icon will be) you go to a configuration window and from there you can test if the port is open or not.

In the case of (b) you'll need to "open the port" on the router. This is known as port forwarding.

If you really have no idea how torrents work, you may like to read this beginner's guide on the uTorrent website.

Here's a setup guide for uTorrent. Many of the steps probably won't have to be followed by you. Basically, if you have the green icon shown in the picture below, uTorrent is connected properly and you don't need to change anything.



To port forward the port number you've entered into uTorrent, just follow this guide.
