@exterminatus: I found the Cole Protocol to be boring and iffy. I definitely prefer the first four novels by publishing date. I thought The Flood did justice to the game even if it was done by Wiliam C. Dietz instead of Eric Nylund, who wrote FoR, FS, and GoO. True, Dietz's style was different from Nylund's, but I enjoyed it all the same. Cole Protocol and Contact Harvest in my opinion were like afterthoughts, and not enough attention was made in the creation of the stories, though they weren't bad, but weren't great either.
@skydagger: you'd be hard pressed to find Halo 2 for PC for free on the net. You'd better have a keygen because most downloadable versions require a CDkey.

The scout was a bullshit unit that was a waste of minerals and gas, and that's coming from a Protoss player.
@Matte: Terrans are the only playable campaign? That doesn't make sense since we're seeing people playing different races in the Battle Reports, unless you mean SCII will be released in three parts, of which I've never even heard of such a thing.

I'm versed enough in anime and Japanese culture to be able to do without English subtitles indicating forms of respect. I do think that they should be left in its original form, and as you mentioned, ShaggyJebus, I think DelRey manga does an excellent job with translation, and they even include a glossary for more arcane or harder to define words at the end of each volume.
Remembering Ender's Game, it's sometimes necessary to do more than the initial action in order to ensure that no future problems will occur, whether it be putting down a bully, double-tap an enemy soldier, over-insuring your car, having a portable generator for electricity, or even preparing for the zombie apocalpyse. It helps put human mind at ease, knowing that one will be prepared for the future through preparation or elimination of the threat(s).
@ZiggyOtaku: my question to you is if one did not believe in God in the first place, on what basis would one be afraid of lying in front of the whole court? I view it as a custom, akin to the pledge of allegiance. I do it to fit in; being a chameleon is necessary under the circumstances without trying to raise a big scene.
What's funny, since I long forgot the entire pledge of allegiance, I looked up the pledge of allegiance and found this interesting little blurb:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
I wonder if that those words "under God" can be striked from the allegiance, seeing how communism isn't as big of a threat as it was back then. It certainly has to do with issues where people all over the States are objecting to overt Christianity references in all walks of life, including crosses in veteran memorials, of which I read in an article just recently.

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Today it reads:"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Chronologically speaking:
Contact Harvest
Cole Protocol
Fall of Reach
The Flood
First Strike
Ghosts of Onyx
and the comic book series and picture books.
It's recommended to read these four novels first for familiarity and in the following order:
1. Fall of Reach - events prior to Halo: Combat Evolved
2. The Flood - events in Halo: Combat Evolved
3. First Strike - events between Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2
4. Ghosts of Onyx - events during Halo 2
-----
- You go back in time for a little history on Sergeant A.J. Johnson and the first meeting with the Covenant with Contact Harvest.
- Cole Protocol comes after as it details a mission of the Spartan II Gray Team.
Note that all books, comics, and picture books are considered canon in the Haloverse, so it makes it worthwhile reading. I recommend reading the four then then the other two. These novels add more background and dimension to the Haloverse that makes it so much more real and believable.

I don't recommend users spending too much time in IB. There are far more interesting topics in the forums that sitting here chatting yourself into a time-sinkhole.
Like I said, I haven't even started. What you mentioned above was the mainstream version of how people view SM/BDSM with stereotyped objects.
But SM/BDSM doesn't have to be the heavy nitty-gritty stuff. Simple bondage/role-playing can easily achieve the domination/masochism aspect of sex.
You're going to have to explain this one because it sounds wrong. It's equivalent to saying that two magnetic poles south and south will attract, when we know they never will.

To be frank, the Halo franchise is probably on of the best developed series out there in the gaming community, and the numbers don't lie. The creativity and appeal to human values using the crux of "war" grabs people in. Humans are about to face total extinction from a hostile alien species bent on destroying everything we lived and died for. One extraodinary soldier has the ability to change this future: Master Chief - and thus the Haloverse is born.
If really wanted to explain why I love the series so much, it'd be an essay, no joke. There are too many factors and facets of Haloverse to comment on why I love Halo so much. Comparable to the Iliad, this is a literal Hero's Journey in modern format. Graphics, animation, music, plot, plot pacing, character design, character interaction, gameplay, and marketing were good if not downright excellent. It started out small, but Bungie became ambitious, read the audience/market, and pushed out what they wanted and more. It's why Halo is so popular that Master Chief is the mascot for XBOX and a modern superhero comparable to Luke Skywalker, Superman, and even Frodo.
Halo is simply that good. (The first game was somewhat boring/repetitive, but I forgive them.)
This trailer showcases some of the elements that make Halo so good, like animation (including camera angling), marketing, human values, music, action:
and this one:
Finish the Fight - what a fucking awesome catchphrase. Makes you feel so GAR inside.

@zeker_pencil: They're literally one and the same, masochism and the need to be dominated or given pain by the "S". And you haven't even started the list of SM/BDSM equipment, like armstraps, ballgags, latex full body suits, paddles, X-shaped crucifixes with chained cuffs, hoods, nipple weights, egg vibrators, meters upon meters of rope... yea, the works.
People actually care about dubbed Naruto Shitpuden? As if the subbed Naruto Shitpuden wasn't bad enough, they just had do us an one up and sic the dubbed version to masses.
The horror.
The horror.
I don't. And I have no fucking clue what the anime is about. I dropped the very first episode 5 minutes in.
@ImperialX: thanks man. The list though was more for my own curiosity as well, and I would think people would wanna know what really happened to the Spartans. Through this, we know that Master Chief John-117 is definitely not the only living Spartan out there, but we all know he's the hero of the story.
@hereforhentai: if you loved my first wall of text, you'll love this one. However, I noticed that some of my numbers are wrong. It was actually 75 Spartans selected out of 150 for the augmentation process, with less than half of the 75 who made it through the final augmentation process.
Here's a pretty accurate list of Spartans that came out through the augmentation procedure and the current status of each, which I thought it be interesting for others to know what truly happened to the Spartans at the end:
Adriana-111 - MIA in Cole Protocol, as no further info is given after with Jai and Mike
Alice-130 - MIA in Halo Wars, as no further info is given after with Douglas and Jerome
Anton-044 - KIA in First Strike, onboard the Ascendant Justice protecting the dropbay with Li
Cassandra-075 - MIA/WIA in Fall of Reach, undergoing medial procedures to be on duty at the M25L Recovery Station
Douglas-042 - MIA in Halo Wars, as no further info is given after with Alice and Jerome
Fred-104 - MIA in Ghosts of Onyx, in the shield world of Onyx with Kelly and Linda
Grace-093 - KIA in First Strike, onboard the Unyielding Hierophant by brutes
Issac-039 - presumed KIA in First Strike, on Reach as he and Vinh were covering Blue Team's 6
Jai-006 - MIA in Cole Protocol, as no further info is given after with Adriana and Mike
James-[Redacted] - presumed MIA or KIA
Jerome-092 - MIA in Halo Wars, as no further info is given after with Alice and Douglas
John-117 - MIA in space, waiting for someone to pick up his capsule one day
Joshua-029 - KIA in First Strike, gunned down on Reach in his banshee
Kelly-087 - MIA in Ghosts of Onyx, in the shield world of Onyx with Linda and Fred
Kurt-051 - KIA in Ghosts of Onyx, on Onyx through detonation of nuclear mines
Li-008 - KIA in First Strike, onboard the Ascendant Justice protecting the dropbay with Anton
Linda-058 - MIA in Ghosts of Onyx, in the shield world of Onyx with Kelly and Fred
Malcolm-059 - KIA in First Strike, on Reach and died on impact from jumping from a Pelican
Maria-062 - only spartan not in military duty, and leads a "normal" life as a researcher for weapons and is married. (O_O)
Mike-[Redacted] - MIA in Cole Protocol, as no further info is given after with Adriana and Jai
Randall-[Redacted] - presumed MIA or KIA
Samuel-034 - KIA in Fall of Reach, the first Spartan casualty while boarding a Covenant ship
Sheila-[Redacted] - presumed MIA or KIA
Vinh-030 - presumed KIA in First Strike, on Reach as she and Issac were covering Blue Team's 6
William-043 - KIA in Ghosts of Onyx, on Onyx by a Hunter blast
-----
Nicole-458 [non-canon, from the game Dead or Alive 4]
(Yes, they're all supposed to be designated as MIA by ONI regulations for morale purposes, but here MIA denotes actual MIA not WIA or KIA.)
Here's a more definitive list of Spartans that were too disabled for active duty after the augmentation process:
Fhajad-084 - WIA
Kirk-018 - WIA
Rene-005 - WIA
Yasmine Zaman-[Redacted] - WIA
If anything is wrong or lacking, please tell me, and I'll update the list. I got a lot of my info from the Halo Encyclopedia, wikipedia, Halo.wikia, and my knowledge/memory of the novels. I actually bought the Halo Encyclopedia - too good to pass up. It's a fucking awesome book of 350 pages, with huge illustrations and lots of detailed info on the Haloverse:
