Maybe not MORE moderators per se, but ACTIVE moderators. I haven't seen Mike and Gambler in a while... I miss them.schmitty wrote...
Mike hasn't been on in 5 months and Gambler hasn't been on in a month. Someone should remedy that.I have been away for some training, with no way to access the internet. However, fret not, I am back now. :D
To think I was actually missed... :) I also have to thank the other staff for covering my duties.
Training, eh? Can you now defeat a bear with only your hands? Or could you already do that?
It's good to see you back, Gambler. :D
As if it matters if this is a waste or not. This is IB. Everything here is a waste.
On-topic, you know what'd be awesome? If Captain Badass posted in this thread, so people could actually see his signature.

I don't see what the big deal is. I mean, how many people play original Xbox games online nowadays? Just about everyone that plays online has a next-gen console, right? And there are plenty of 360 games to play online.
I don't know. I just figure there are more people playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 online than the original Halo.

Thanks, guys. It means a lot that people actually enjoy this.
I'd thought of putting it on an online-viewing site but haven't gotten around to messing with it yet. As for torrents, I don't know anything about making one, and I kind of don't want to make a torrent for just one chapter, even if it is the size of a volume.
As for how much work this is, there are three things that really let me work fast. One, a lot of pages don't have any text on them at all. just a little resizing, and it's good to go. Two, I spend my time cleaning and typesetting - I'm not going to spend an hour trying to redraw something (as if I even could) when I could put a box above it with the translation. I figure, if it's good enough for officially-licensed releases, and it saves me time, it's good enough for me. And finally, three, I'm a NEET. No school and no job lets me spend a couple of hours on this every day.

Welcome to the world of Scanlator fansub drama. Please enjoy your stay with us. Question. How exactly did you find a translation if this has never been subbed before? I am assuming, unless I am misreading, that you don't have your own translator?
Nope, I don't have my own translator.
I was browsing MangaHelpers and came across the manga Orochi. It had one chapter released but translations for the next five chapters. I checked out the site of the group that had released the one chapter, and it said to contact the translator on MH for the raws. That's basically it. I have no idea what I'm going to do once I finish those chapters. I guess scour MH, trying to find things that have translations but no scanlations. And hope the raws aren't hard to find or bad quality.
I just made my first release! It's the second chapter of a horror manga that no one's heard of, by a horror mangaka that is often overlooked by English-speaking fans of horror. Yeah! I'm in the big times now!
I did all the editing myself, from raws and a translation that are over a year old. I didn't even do the first half of the chapter because the group that started the project already did it. I wasn't being lazy though - I just didn't want to replace their good pages with my completely average pages.
Long story short, I suck. But at the same time, I did over 120 pages in less than a week. So I rock? I honestly don't know. Oh, this will tip the scales - I don't even know where to put the chapter to let people know about it! My best idea is a paranormal imageboard that I know likes horror manga. I can't even put it on MangaHelpers yet (where I found the translation) because I have to get my group application reviewed, and there's a five-release limit or something. These chapters are HUGE! It'll take me over a month to get four more chapters!
So, I'm congratulating myself while kicking myself. Awesome.
Here's my site for any fans of horror manga or Kazuo Umezu out there. (I'm sure there are two, maybe three of you.)

Feel free to share it with anyone you think may like it. I'd really like if more than a handful of people saw this.

It's real in the sense that it's been around forever. It's fake in the sense that companies do hype it up and try to get people to buy shit. Then again, even if companies did nothing, people would still remember it and buy shit anyways.
It's a tradition, and it isn't going away any time soon. Just gotta live with it.
Memorial Day, now that was created by the greeting card companies!

I've thought about what you're saying Mr.nockers, but in a different way. I think of the many kids across the planet that spend the majority of the day in school and then do homework for several hours after school, and I wonder why it has to be that way. I understand that it's easier to learn when you are young, and each person should know certain things before they reach adulthood, but it seems like a waste of youth. Even if you have all the free time in the world when you're old, it's not the same as having the time when you're young. I know the educational system in America sucks, horribly, but when I think of children not having to spend 12 hours a day studying or doing schoolwork, I'm actually kind of glad that our educational system isn't as strict as other countries. Does that make sense to anyone?
I think people should try to work towards their future goals when in high school and their late teens, but at the same time, I think they should also enjoy life as much as they can. Getting a full-time job at 18, and staying with that job for a couple of decades without a real break seems like a wasted life. You're supposed to be a full-grown adult at 18, able to take care of yourself, but that's just not right. At 18, you're still growing, still learning, still making a hell of a lot of mistakes.
I suppose my ideal would be to have each person go through high school and college without working, except for perhaps a part-time job or internship, and after they graduate college, they get into the "real world," as it is often called. Of course, that is a very hard thing to do. It relies on supportive, loving parents (who also have a bit of money), and a child with a desire to learn and not be selfish. (Just about every person in my high school with a job only had it so they could buy shit they wanted.) As for the "experience" that one is supposed to gain by having a job, that would be learned by doing chores around the house. I think knowing how to vacuum and cook is more helpful than knowing how to ask a person if they want fries with their burger.

I don't have a next-generation console, but I do have my trusty PS2, and I've noticed that most (good) used PS2 games aren't worth buying used in a game store. The majority of the good PS2 games are Hits, which drops them down to about $20, and the used versions of those games are only dropped down to $16 or $17. Save two dollars? What a fucking joke.
And I've given up the thought of ever selling any of my games because they'll give me nickels for them. But both of these may be due to the fact that there's almost nothing but Gamestops where I live now. With what is basically a monopoly, they can charge whatever they want and give whatever they want for used games.

It sounds nice, but the inability to add games to it makes it kind of a waste. It's basically like buying a new game, which is good since it comes with a lot of games, but it's not just a disc that you can stick on a shelf. It's a freaking console. If you own other systems, I imagine it'll be difficult to go between them and this Zone.
Have you ever told any of your girlfriends about this? If you tell them that you have a deep-seated fear of being abandoned/hurt, they may try to help you to overcome this problem. With situations like this, you can work by yourself all you like, but it may get you nowhere. It'd be like trying to get over a fear of spiders without seeing or being anywhere near a spider.
You say that your relationships never last more than two months; if you start a relationship and really like the girl, you should try talking to her about this problem. Not immediately, but once you feel that you are close to her and can possibly trust her. If she cares about you, she will try to understand what is going on and help you. Then, around the two-month mark, when the relationship starts to have problems, she'll know that you're afraid and will do all she can to make it work.
For example, I tend to push people away after a while, or just forget them. In my last relationship, I told the girl this before I started doing it, and told her that if I become distant or don't make contact at all for a few days, to talk to me and discuss the issue. So, she did, and the relationship lasted a lot longer than it would have if I had kept quiet.
Relationships aren't all holding hands and being happy together - it's acknowledging and accepting the problems of each other and coming to grips with them, together. You'll never be able to get over your fear of being hurt by women without opening up to a woman. It could just be a friendship and not a physical relationship, but the key is to learn, as best you can, that it is possible to trust a woman, that some women out there can be trusted. It's not going to be easy, of course, and it will no doubt take a long time, but it can be done.

I have to say, it's different, but I don't hate it.
I'm more concerned with why people are using Pokemon avatars. I saw something similar on Facebook a few months ago - are Fakku members doing the same thing?
Hmm, what about a pikachu that's tied up and being beaten by a whip?

I've noticed that the section-specific moderators are people who post a lot in those sections. For example, Klown became a mod of the Visual Novels Upload section because he is basically the king of the place, having uploaded most of the stuff there. He also became the mod of the section because it needed a lot of moderation.
I assume that there will only be a new mod when 1) a section shows that it needs a lot of moderation, 2) a current mod does not spend a lot of time there, and 3) there is a user that posts there a lot that stands above the rest and is trustworthy.
A lot of sections don't need mods because they don't fit all three of those requirements. Hell, I think many sections don't even meet two of the requirements. But if the Cosplay section suddenly became very active, and a lot of reports came from the section, I'm sure something would be done.

It all depends on the crime. Rape and Sexual Assault deserve capital punishment. Drug Use deserves Rehabilitation. That really doesn't answer any of my questions, but thanks for the input?
Saying this in case people don't understand it - rehabilitation can be more than just getting someone off drugs. To rehabilitate a criminal is to make that person no longer a criminal, able to go back into society and not commit any more crimes.

I think it's okay in the sense that it's also okay to go bungie jumping and sky diving. An adult can decide what he/she wants to on his/her own, but there are risks that one must accept before doing anything. Don't skydive without being aware, and accepting, that something could go wrong, and you could die; and don't get a sex friend without being aware, and accepting, that all sorts of shit could go wrong. I think the worst thing that could happen is pregnancy. How would the friends with benefits handle that?
