Well, nothing stops you connecting a proper keyboard and mouse to a laptop. Or even a larger monitor too if you want.Quite a lot of nice new dakimakura turning up for dreamparty and COMIC1☆6 now...
Yeah, that's a given even if it does essentially defeat the purpose of a laptop. I guess you could go that way at home and just use it as normal elsewhere, but I'm fine with just a desktop myself.
The dakimakura blog has been really active the last few hours. Normally the weekends are pretty dead as far as updates go, but I've checked it several times in an hour period and always came back to a new cover. Guess events have a tendency to bump activity up.

Yeah, laptops are definitely great as far as portability is concerned. I just can't get used to typing on a smaller scale keyboard myself and not having a real mouse is an absolute travesty. I guess it's a matter of personal preference but I couldn't see myself gaming regularly on a laptop, even if it were comparable in specs.
Might also be because I've become a cheap bastard when it comes to these things. I built my desktop last year and everything ran me just a bit less than $600. It can still take just about everything I throw at it without any hassle. Not sure how much those laptops runs, but I know in general the price comparison between a similarly specced desktop/laptop usually isn't very pretty.

What's up with this newfangled ROG shit? D: I actually had never heard of them, but I'm not much of a laptop person myself, especially for gaming. I'm a firm believer that gaming should be done on a desktop. :D

Though I'm new to dakimakura collecting, but in general, I do not like bootlegs. But as I'm nearing the end of Sekirei: Pure Engagement, I really want a cover, but it seems as though the only way I can obtain such an item is through bootleg. I think... Fuck those girls are so HOT!Don't know about the show in particular, so I couldn't suggest any good ones. However, I searched it up on the dakimakura blog, and at the very least, Evening Call is selling a cover of one of the show's characters now:

If only they had a better close-up of Musubi. :[ But I was actually interested in this.

Something about Tsukiumi just...BLARGHFADJN!
Thanks for the help though! Didn't even know the link you gave me was on sale considering the fact that the anime was release awhile ago.
Yeah, it's a recent thing. Evening Call ran a survey months back asking which covers people would like to be resold. After months of sitting on the results, they finally put the batch up on that link a week or two ago. I really want the one done by pen on that page.
I'll keep an eye out for the cover you linked.

Ah yeah, all good then. Yeah, if you can order through a website directly, there is practically no reason to use a proxy. More and more sites are willing to deal with international customers, but the majority still will only ship inside Japan, so you need the proxy.

Well, you said the two covers you wanted from B&W Store weren't available for order. So even using a proxy, you shouldn't have been able to purchase them from B&W Store, if they weren't available. If you were able to order them through Yokatta (from B&W Store), there's no reason you should of had to use a proxy. But maybe I'm still misunderstanding something.

I think this question has been answered sometime earlier within this thread, but I do not recall which page. So to reiterate the question, if was asked before, is it a lot cheaper if you bought stuff straight from B&W, than through a proxy? Arguably, yes. Yokatta would be the cheapest proxy to use, since it's a store order. That would end up being fairly cheap, at 700 yen. B&W Store offers free shipping, so if you factor in shipping to you from Yokatta, for EMS that would be another 1500ish yen (less if you used a slower service.) So at the very least, you're looking at maybe 1500 yen added cost for no reason, however, that's if there's no added fees that I'm missing.
There would have to be a reason you chose a use a proxy over ordering directly though, so I would assume you would want to have some extra time to pay and use SMJ. Would be about $16 in commission, $10 special order fee, -5 yen rate, possibly a wire fee if they really wanted to try that (despite paying by Paypal), shipping to the United States (their facility), and then shipping to you. Would definitely add an extra $40 or so.
On the topic of BW Store, I'm confused about what they're asking for "Name and Sender account last 5 yards".
Do they mean digits on the card, or something?

Just leave it blank.
Well the reason why I used a proxy this time was because the two covers that I wanted wasn't available on B&W for order. :[ But thanks for the info. And by fast shipping, do you just mean EMS in general? Or their processing and everything is fast? Sorry if that sounds a bit confusing.
Oh, so you had to order them from somewhere else? That changes things entirely, depending on what you paid. If you bought from YJA, it definitely added a lot of extra cost depending on what you paid compared to the retail price (of 13k yen.) If you managed to get it for a good deal less than that, it may have evened out a bit, but that doesn't happen often and you still probably paid more than you would have had you been able to order direct. Without knowing the exact circumstances I couldn't say for sure though.
I mentioned shipping a lot, so I don't know if I'm addressing the right point. But the area where I mentioned speed was in my Yokatta estimate; average shipping for a dakimakura cover is about 1500 yen with EMS, possibly a bit more. Once shipped, it takes about 3 days to arrive at your door. Had you wanted to save some money, you could have used SAL or another service, and that probably would have run you 800ish yen or so (I'm not sure on SAL prices) but it would have taken 2-4 weeks to arrive.

Thinking on it more, I actually agree entirely with willowywicca on this. Dengeki covers are a great way to supplement a collection for the $30-60 they cost, but if you miss the initial sale and have to pay upwards of $100 for it, I hardly say it's worth it. That's just me personally, but at that point you're quickly approaching the price realm of a full scale, double sided, better detailed, and likely more explicit (if that's your thing) cover. Unless of course you really like the character/artist, then some more personal tastes may factor in, but to me it just wouldn't make sense to pay that much otherwise.

Also magazine ones have defects fairly often (where the stitching was sown together incorrectly).Having a look for the correct momoyo festival cover I get:
http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k134946749 7,500 bid, no buyout
http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b129755522 5,000 bid, or 8,000 buyout
So you could try your luck bidding the 5k (or a little more). 8k buyout probably is a bit cheaper than that ebay auction still, though it'd be close with the high shipping charges on a heavy festival comic issue.
Yeah, the shipping costs for the ebay auction are high, but I find that when using SMJ, auctions under the 10k range are usually the ones with the highest proportional added cost. My last auction under 10k was a 6k set of posts and it ended up costing me $130 after SMJ got it to their US office. Granted it was fairly long, so the shipping was a bit higher.

How come magazine covers are so cheap in comparison to like the two sided? One sided, mass produced, lesser quality material (and possibly printing.) Even if there were a lot of production costs involved, they'd probably be done as a loss leader to a ton of copies of the magazine, and more copies sold equals higher advertising revenue.

Though looking at it again, the auction willowywicca linked is from Festival No. 20, whereas the one you linked is No. 12. I'm assuming they're different covers, but I've been out of the loop for awhile.

Yeah, that would definitely be the way to go then. The magazine is usually pretty cool, but it's just a collection of chapters from random ecchi manga and tons of anime related ads. I don't know if that issue came with anything else, but the magazine just adds more to shipping cost than is really necessary.
When I first got into dakimakura collecting, I purchased every single Dengeki special issue, and started buying a few other magazines as well (Red Ichigo was my favorite in terms of overall value.) But I personally don't anymore, since the magazines take up a lot of space and while the goodies can be pretty cool, they really aren't my thing. As for other sites you could pick it up at, I'd recommend checking all the major retailers; they usually sell out pretty fast, but sometimes they'll have a magazine that released a few months ago in stock (and maybe even marked down.) Doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
Nope, that particular option is a buyout. You can tell by the shopping cart auction next to it; an auction will have the hammer, I think, but buyout is the shopping cart.

Oh, awesome. But, is this an auction as well, I'll need to fight a little for it?

Does this seem legit? For that price, it seems alright, but I wanna ask a pro.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dengeki-Gs-Festival-Vol-12-w-Momoyo-Dakimakura-Cover-/320888588113?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab6734751
That's a tough one. The general rule of thumb is that if the seller isn't located in Japan, don't buy from them. They also don't have a picture of their copy of the product, just a generic image they took from the internet, so that also goes against them.
It's honestly impossible to tell one way or the other. However, as this is a magazine with a dakimakura, I'd say it has a greater chance of being legit than if it were just a stanadard two sided dakimakura cover. But I can't say one way or the other (I don't think any of us ever use ebay, tbh.)

I still have 8 more covers on the way too (half of which from Evening Call - like I said, can't wait!).

Yeah, that's one thing Dakimakuma is never afraid to show. :D They do occasionally creatively censor the goods, but if they do, it's almost always with semen. :3 I've posted some of their stuff in the past. Let me see if I can dig any of it up.
And definitely a nice grab, Kobun. ^^
