Just a quick fyi; I'm South Korean, and when I worked for a South Korean automotive parts company this past summer, some of the guys there told me that South Korea has 100 Mb/s internet speeds for 20 dollars a months. I thought he was joking, but then one of the guys proved it to me by going to his provider's website and showing me the subscription details.
Imagine...100 Mb/s. lol. Get a movie in eight seconds. Too bad most computers can't handle that. I think the fastest my computer copies a file is 20 Mb/s, so I assume my max download speed on my computer is somewhere around that too.
You have to differentiate between Mb (Mega bit) and MB (Mega Byte)!
100 Mb/s is actually only 12.5 MB/s, and that is the theoretical maximum, which you will never get, so if you have 100 Mb/s you could expect max 10 MB/s if you are lucky (there has to be someone with a 100 Mb/s upload you can download from..)

So it is quite possible that you will not care about the increase in speed since you are buying a cheap laptop anyway and therefor probably do not expect to get the fastest laptop.
It is simple just important to *me* that you know this, so you do not ignore it like most other people I know.

I think if you handle the laptop well you can still buy an AMD laptop, just try to find reviews on the model first to see if it has to many complaints of parts dying or breaking.
Regarding the HD, then it is a speed issue, and not so much a quality issue. although, if they as standard put a 7200 rpm hd in, then you can generally assume that they have not tried to save to much on other components since most people do not get that 5400 rpm is a bad so that is the first place they start saving a buck.

Considering you are from Sweden, where basically everyone seems to have fiber, then NO, BAD SWEDISH PERSON, it is not fast enough.

You specify one specific example, the XPS M1210, a quality DELL. I am guessing that if you had bought an XPS with an AMD you would not get any problems since they are build with better hardware and materials then Dells usual laptops .
But I get guess your numbers do not lie, so there is an apparent trend that cheap laptops with AMD will have been build with to many low quality components.

I do not really see why something has to go wrong, and if you are the nervous/shy type this might be the only way to make the other person aware that he/she is special to you.
