Alright, it's Hestia-sama!
Yep search has been broken for awhile.
Definitely more than one chapter per day that I visit and I visit pretty frequently but not everyday.

But I tend to binge entire series or re-read series start to finish.
I'm so bad at this game, I forgot to write on day 4. And neat-o.
This onahole event is so educational.
USPS is the cheapest option available that's practical (and USPS is snail mail as far as anyone is concerned).

The USPS<=>UPS<=>FedEx options are available thanks to distribution agreements and I don't think Fakku will be picking up any time soon. It will need to grow by a lot.

Have you tried Amazon? Amazon does have these distribution agreements, but I don't know how it works over in Australia.

One thing though is that the website is setup to a broad audience and is setup for individual parcels. You can try to contact the staff and they might be willing to pack a whole lot of books into a single box and send it to you via a single shipment. You can save in bulk, just have to go through a few extra steps.

It looks like NaPaTa has picked up a new style.

And what style is that?

I was going to say that the cover girl looks different than NaPaTa's usual iconic style. But actually it looks a lot like Chisa-nee from It's Frustrating.

Just found this while I was browsing Twitter.

If my eyes don´t deceive me , it seems like Wani is releasing a 2nd Tankoubon by NaPaTa.
I would love to be able to pick this up as soon as it gets released.

Wani

Seconding this. Delicious brown girls and Succubi. I need this in my life.

I'll just third this then.

+1

It looks like NaPaTa has picked up a new style.
The UI for the options is interesting... I guess it will be cleaned up for the release.

So admittedly the only new function I'm using with the beta reader is the two page reader, which is sweet!

One problem I think I'm having is that images are taking longer to load. I see the blurry version but it takes awhile, sometimes several seconds (like up to 30) until the image is clear. I usually view on Fast Scaling & Fit to height if that matters. I only noticed this recently so I feel like it was after the switch to the beta reader.

edit* So it's probably just because of the multipage reader. I tried switching back to the single page reader and could barely notice the load times. So I guess with the multi-page reader sometimes the load times are much much slower. If that could be fixed so that it was less noticeable, that would be great.

It can also be in some cases, where a fan of such previously scanlated work admired it so much they want to support the artist and a legal option here in the US. Previously when I worked on scanlations of non-h manga, and Viz or Yen Press would license a title, that was it. We'd call our job done, and find a new title, and then happily buy the legit release. Not everyone wants to just read everything digitally. Some people like owning physical objects.

Definitely. The volume of sales for the Fakku Books releases so far are a testament to this ongoing fan support (several books were previously completely scanlated already).

That's why I'm really interested in how Fakku plans to coordinate requests or suggestions for new titles in the future and really take advantage of the (at times fanatical) fanbase. There was a mention of kickstarter on Jacob's recent post, which I think is a wonderful idea. Since Fakku also has some avid supporters (e.g. some people even have more than one subscription), I think the kickstarter idea or something similar will be great way for these overachievers to make a more meaningful contribution.

I still want my doujins in English. Make it happen. Please.

It's not like doujinshi translations will stop.

They'll stop on Fakku.

Wow what a big loss.
/sarcasm

Considering that Jacob started Fakku just so he could get more Asuka, I'd say it's not an ignorable loss. Parody doujins have always been at the core of Fakku from Day 1 and now they're going away.

The only negative impact that I can think of is that some criticize us for translating books that have been scanlated in the past. However, I think that's a silly argument when you compare the quality of the two, and it shows we're doing a decent job when that's all that's left for critics to complain about. Besides, a lot of the requests we get are for fully scanlated books, so it's obvious people don't want to settle for "acceptable" and want proper releases for their favorite titles.

Like for example: why did TiTiKEi take so long to publish when it was already scanlated by yours truly. But yes a proper release needs to be: a legitimate release and if you're going to be making a print version it also needs to exceed the scanlated version.

I think more people are more aware of existing (scanalated) books that they enjoyed and so tend to base their requests on their known wants/needs rather than the unknown ones. If they don't know such and such published a chapter in the latest such and such magazine, they're not going to request it. If they had enough Fluency in Japanese to know about it, well then they probably wouldn't be requesting it either. But I don't think requests for licensed releases of already scanlated works is going to go away. People want to see the works they love available, legally.
I've never won at this game.
This is getting weird

My biggest reservation about the removal of scanlated works is Doujins (which is a significant portion of my reading). Unfortunately there won't be any place in the new world for these things.

???

I want to see incest (NaPaTa's version) to happen in real life, oh and knee-socks. Knee-socks are becoming more popular so it's sort of happening. Now if only we could get sweet vanilla incest... For the most part I'm cool with most of the hentai genres occurring in real life. Femdom, being spoiled by an onee-san, etc. My taste in hentai is mostly aligned with my real life interests/expectations (except for tentacles). I'm pretty averse to anal so I don't read much anal. I definitely don't like the rapey stuff (which is just wrong) and bondage (too impractical).
In terms of content available per $ you spend, subbing is the way to go. But subscriptions don't give you access to the books. It's entirely up to the content that you enjoy.

My experience is that while a ton of material is available via the subscription, I just don't read it because I'm not into that stuff. This situation may change in the future as more stuff is added to the pipeline.

I'm not trying to do a Books vs sub comparison, whereas books will only get you ~10 chapters and cost an entire month's worth of subscription time, my experience is that I've felt more satisfied with my book purchases than with my current subscription simply because they have the content that I want (NaPaTa mostly).
No method of payment is going to help you unless you have $. If you want to become a subscriber and supporter, you need $ to do that. Until you resolve the I have no money because I'm a student problem, you need to look for ways to support the artists that doesn't involve $.

Strangely I wasn't aware of this discussion until Jacob's announcement.

I'm mostly supportive of Fakku transitioning towards the "licensed content only" goal. I personally feel it is still too soon for scanlations to be removed at Fakku, but I recognize that it has been known for some time that this would happen eventually.

The fact that Fakku subscriptions is up and running and able to keep up with Comic X-Eros and Comic Kairakuten puts me at ease and lends a lot of creditworthiness to Fakku's ability to carry on. If not for subscriptions, I would not be supportive of removal of scanlations at all.

For future publications, I am confident that Fakku will do well and be able to bring the latest works and have them released in English. Unfortunately there is a tremendous archive of old works that will be removed and it will take a long time and a lot of effort to restore this archive. This issue basically is how Fakku books was started and a wonderful example of success in this area is Love Ridden & TiTiKEi which were two very popular scanlated books, that were taken down for what felt like eternity, but eventually made their way back. It would be great to speed up this process w/o interfering with new content. Fakku already has experience in this area and only needs to work fast enough to meet demand. Of course if the publishers decide to make more tankobon's or repackage old ones then it's win/win in this area.
