Happy new year, everyone. Hope you all you enjoyed the holidays.
I'm not really "voiced my support for Tao" though, It's more like I'm saying that I'd be nice if we could also get a sneak peek for representatives from TAO, maybe Futo or Seiga like that. I hope they'd release another trial in next reitaisai.
And I don't think I have set my heart to any of the factions since we still don't get the full story behind the 'incident' this time.
I think Kosuzu has the hots for Raymoo. Just look at her in the first chapter, being aggressive and made Reimu blush. As for her story, I want to know where she got all of her daemon books from, especially since she has the Necronomicon. Other than that... she feels kinda bland for now and seems to be geared towards a support role.

Say, which faction do you support for now? Shinto? Buddha? Tao? Or Marisa's, assuming she doesn't belong to any group. Rin's voiced his support for Tao, I've voiced my support for Buddhism, and BiBi is supporting Buddhism by the default considering his nickname, which stands for Believe.In.Byakuren.Institute.I'm not really "voiced my support for Tao" though, It's more like I'm saying that I'd be nice if we could also get a sneak peek for representatives from TAO, maybe Futo or Seiga like that. Speaking of Touhou topic, what do you think about Motoori Kosuzu so far? Are you interested to know her story in Forbidden Scrollery? Adding more for the information; it seems Tasofro is going to implement 3 playable characters for each faction. It's actually not a really new information considering the implication's been served by the opening video. - Taoist: Toyosatomimi no Miko, Mononobe no Futo, and Seiga Nyan Nyan.
- Buddhist: Hijiri Byakuren, Toramaru Shou, and KujoKumoi Ichirin.
- Shinto: Hakurei Reimu and Kirisame Marisa (probably)
Tasofro has clarified the system requirements as well. Don't know about you guys, but it's rather irrational for a doujin game in my opinion.
Kanako/Suwako and Sanae for Shinto are more likely. Marisa doesn't seem to belong to any faction IMO, maybe she's in 'neutral' side.
The requirements are indeed high for a doujin game, but with the new game engine and things it's not really a surprise IMO. Maybe, just maybe it's still not the 'final' requirements since it's still a demo.

I started playing touhou around september. I've played 4 games so far, two shooters (Ten desires, Fairy wars) and two fighters (SWR, UNL). SWR was my first game.I like yoshika.
Welcome here, fuwaruu. Good to see that you've already met and became acquainted with some people here.
Enjoy your stay, and feel free to come to discuss or ask about anything related to Touhou here.

Ah, very much appreciated. Moving on to what is shown in the Hopeless Masquerade's video; is there any (possible) indicator, like spellcard meter in IaMP, that indicates how long the 'declare' mode's duration is? I only managed to notice the change in background, which is reverted back right after Marisa executed Blazing Star. The spell meters on the bottom are probably not that since its value only reacts to the usage of special attacks, like spirit jewels/meter in SWR and Hisoutensoku.Looks like you could only declare your spell when your health bar's been fully filled by blue color.
From what I saw in the video, Marisa's health bar was emitting blue light when it was fully filled and she was declaring her spell.
That blue light slowly diminish over time, and then vanished when she finally execute her "Blazing Star". Same with Reimu. I guess that blue light was the 'indicator' for the 'declare' mode duration in the game. Still have to wait for the demo to know if it's true or not though.

Any thoughts perhaps? The opening might be giving us a hint about the characters who'd be playable in the game I think. I see Reimu, Byakuren, Shou, Unzan, Miko, and Futo on the opening. Anyone else think the same?

Would you mind to explain how does the spellcard work in IaMP and the similarity with Hopeless Masquerade's? Honestly, I'm not really familiar with IaMP. This is the result of Scarlet Weather Rhapsody being my first Touhou Fighting Game ever.IIRC spellcards in IaMP work like this:
- You get to choose them before fight
- Once per round you can 'declare' it in fight when your spellcard bar/meter at the bottom is filled
- The duration of your spell declaration and numbers of the spells you can shoot depend on how filled your spellcard bar/meter was
- After you declared it, you can input the command, like the usual special attack command to shoot the spell.
I guess Hopeless Masquerade's spells feel like IaMP's since as we could see in that video, Marisa didn't use "Blazing Star" immediately after she declared it.

About the video, I like how the background features a lot of characters from the old series as watchers. Unfortunately, they aren't doing much, or we can just say they're lacking animation frames. Gameplay-wise, I'm still uncertain in regard to how the spellcard works. Hopefully it will be explained splendidly as the demo being released in the next Comiket. If I read it right from Tasofro's blog, it seems the audience will also be involved in the gameplay, so they aren't just there for the background. Kinda a practical way to cram lots of characters into the game without making them fully playable I'd say.

So I finally made it to the MoF spellcard. Like people say its easier than on easy mode. I highly recommend not doing it with zero options (and therefore bombs), which I learned the hard way just now. Survived somehow but its not the right way at all. This question is for everyone, do you find Kanako-normal easier than Kanako-easy? With the exception of the Hunting Ritual spellcard I think its easier. More bullets normally make things harder but for the most part they are faster and respond well to unfocused dodging. Why did you feel it was not the right way?
As a whole, I don't think Kanako-normal is easier than Kanako-easy. But you're right, some of Kanako's spellcards did feel 'easier' in normal mode. Like "Miracle of Otensui" that I feel is easier to stream along, and "Mountain of Faith" that's also easier to dodge around since the bullets are getting more structured and tidier, so we could easily see the pattern and finding the gap between bullets.

If you want to, go ahead. I won't forbid it. I will just have to change the minimal faith required. Then I'd like to join, please. And I'll claim Reimu again to represent again this time.

MoF should have had a graze system and award faith for it like SA and its bonus scoring thing. It feels like everything after and including stage 4 ZUN was thinking "so how close do you want to get to these? Oh heres the God's Rice Porridge card, enjoy".Told you about dem no graze in MoF, it was like having a plain fries without dip, ketchup or even salt. Lots of bullets and spells from stage 3 and beyond are just... so grazeable, yet we got no graze counter and points.

Was it too late to register myself for normal round now?

Prismrivers, rather, note shaped bullets can fall off a cliff. It is hard to imagine a multiplayer co-op style of danmaku other than POFV. In one of the other times I attempted this post I thought of a head to head game where the bosses are controlled by player 2 and the character (shrine maiden) by player 1. Such a game would never work because its not easy making a bullet pattern that only looks impossible, player 2 would easily win by making a literal wall of bullets.I always think their ghost lasers are more troublesome than the note-bullets though.
Yeah, me too. I couldn't think any more suited way for a multiplay in Touhou other than PoFV style.

Because 100,000 light years is only around the corner. So the door is essentially only good for most whens and wheres on Earth provided you know coordinates for the location. How close are humans to inventing this?
That youkai is probably limited to similar constraints though.
Yup, the door is mostly good on earth, though the reliability of this door doesn't seem to be really good since it's often went to repair/maintenance or just plain missed the target in the manga IIRC, so Doraemon and Nobita would just walk or fly using take-copter. Don't know how close humans to inventing this device, both IRL and touhouverse.

Soooo its okay to not watch/read it?Give it a chance I'd say, you can start with the manga, then watch the movies. The messages and morals on the series are timeless.

Here's my submission for this round. 1CC'd it, but didn't took the snapshot after beating Kanako since I sadly died on her non-spell just before her "Miracle of Otensui" card and got my faith points reduced.

Hence I said those type of muliplayer would alter touhou's core gameplay much.
Don't forget 3 on 1 matches like the ones against Primsriver sisters or Three Fairies too. They are quite fun when they happen. Mainly because they often have a different patterns depending on your character or route of choice.
I think... PoFV+IN side-by-side play with a single story would end up in a mess. Somehow I just couldn't imagine how it would play, especially the boss battle part. Maybe Touhou or bullet hell in general isn't really suited for a multiple play system.

Never seen Doraemon. How similar is Doraemon's anywhere door to Yukari's boundaries? The similar thing is both can connect from one location to another locations. But, Doraemon's Anywhere Door (Dokodemo Door) has several known limitations like: the door is said to only be able to travel a maximum distance of 100,000 light years, cannot access other dimension, and can only connect to locations that's been recorded in its mapping computer.

This is not good, Mr.Penguin.I am not knowledgeable enough to clarify that part. But if I recall correctly, spellcard rules are meant to be not-harmful due to its nature as the only plausible solution to settle score without killing each other.

DUWANG is ashamed of you!
The girls still suffer some damages though. As we can see in their lose portraits. So spell card battle is still harmful to some degree, but not lethal enough to cause casualties.

I don't think it would work in a pure multiplayer story mode. That is, the potential for a human and CPU team. It feels like it would be a pain to code AI that dies every so often for all the game difficulties. The result would be a CPU that is useless or never dies.
Ah, I've seen that baywatch video before. I don't think it really counts as a crossover with baywatch, but yeah, that was a close one.
For the multiplayer, it could work by making it limited to just Human and Human team like in Giga Wing or Gradius series.
But yeah, I also think that pure multiplayer story mode in Touhou wouldn't work good. for reasons it would alter the core gameplay of Touhou much and of course I couldn't imagine how the spell card duel will work if it's not a one-on-one duel.

But I'm always in the impression that danmaku is also the battle of beauty and effectiveness, not a brawl like Dragon Ball."I feel you! I feel you deeply! Your feeling I can feel deeply!"
danmaku, or spell card battle in Touhou should really focus on beautiful bullet patterns and dodging than the usual Dragon Ball like brawls.
Besides, didn't the draft of spell card rules forbid the repeated use of attacks relying on physical strength anyway?

Rule ⑨ and by extension rule 34-⑨. There is likely something, somewhere left untouched by these rules. We just have to find it. (Are there any Fakku-Touhou parodies?)Unrelated: Still think the games could use an online co-op, just to see how it would work.
I'm sure there are still lots of things that haven't been parodied by Touhou fandom. Maybe something like Touhou x Baywatch or Touhou x MacGyver. I don't know if there are any fakkuxTouhou parody, and I hope I wouldn't see any since it'll be scary to see rule ⑨ goes that far.
Online co-op for Touhou games? I think that's a rather interesting idea, I'd like to see if it could be implemented on the future installment, maybe ZUN could start with a multiplayer story mode first...

Is it right to say "parodied by Touhou"? ZUN doesnt do very much parodying, its usually various artists injecting Touhou into everything. To this day, the reason for making game characters do everything imaginable is still beyond comprehension.Ah, you do have a point. Maybe "parodied by Touhou fandom" is the more appropriate wording. Touhou, especially its fandom is really something isn't it? It never cease to amaze me.
