Yeah, all 9 of the covers they offered from the Unlight series (apparently a card game, I guess?) were fantastic, but I cut it down to those 6. My favorites are probably top right and bottom left, but there isn't one I dislike.

Edit: A friend is still selling a few dakimakura covers at some pretty decent prices. I purchased a cover from him a few months back myself and it was in good condition, as advertised.

You're definitely just over-reacting in this case. It is possible to buy bootleg figures if you aren't buying from a reputable seller.

In this case, AmiAmi is a reputable seller. As are Hobby Search and HLJ, though there are likely many more I'm leaving out.

What it boils down to, is that Alter sets a high MSRP, which sellers can then discount at their own choice. They literally order thousands of figures direct from Alter, so they're likely paying 3-4k per unit for that 6k figure, which allows them to "discount" the price that Alter sets as the MSRP.

Now if you're buying from eBay or some other shady site, then you could be worried. But AmiAmi is legit.

The basic idea with this was to take advantage of SMJ's Taiwan deputy beta testing; during this time, there were no commission fees, though they did still have the typical wire fees and such, I think. Used in conjunction with BWStore's cheap domestic prices (2600 NTD versus 12000 JPY.) Since I ordered 6 of the 9 UNLight dakimakura covers, it ended up being a fairly significant savings.

Does Yokatta offer a Taiwanese proxy service?

So I finally put in a shipping request for my BWStore order through SMJ, and as such I can finally calculate how much I saved, if anything. It's worth noting that I'm just doing this for follow up sake, since SMJ now has service fees in place for their Taiwan deputy service (and my order would have racked up about an $80 commission.)

Here are the numbers:

Order through SMJ: $689.45
Shipping cost from Taiwan: $109.65
Total cost: $799.10

Yen cost had I ordered through BWStore: 84000
Current conversion value: $915.53

So at the very least, I saved a solid $100 ordering through SMJ. It probably wouldn't be worth it now, given the proxy fees would have taken the majority of that, but it was worth it while they were still in the beta testing phase. It's also worth noting that the dollar is doing a lot better right now against the yen than when it was when I ordered; had I ordered directly then, my total would have been about $1040.

Skimming the Google-translated blog posts, it looks like it's a new brand. I don't know if it will be games, animation, or merchandise... but I guess we'll see soon enough. :o

Pretty much, yeah. If you're not comfortable with having them on display, then it's pretty easy to hide them. I don't know anyone that's nosy enough to look under someone's blanket/comforter if they see a lump under the blankets.

It's pretty crazy that they're doing another web order so soon after the last one. Not that I'm complaining, but it's very uncharacteristic of them. I do regret not putting in an order with the last one; I really like the March Wedding dress cover, and hope it pops up on YJA for a reasonable price. I'd probably buy the Sakura/pillow combo, but I'm pretty sure I already own that cover in the standard version. If they end up doing another one with new art/a cover I don't have, then I might consider ordering it.

How was the Taiwan shipping side of things? I ordered 6 covers and 3 of the Ahri bag, so I'm worried it's going to be a pretty hefty shipping charge. Nice batch of loot, as always. ^^

I still haven't paid off my Comiket stuff... lots of late invoices around. >_> Really hope to pay some of it off before the end of the month so I can order the two Baseson covers I wanted from C83.

Damn you on the Rin; that's awesome. What did you end up paying for her? I've wanted that cover for ages but didn't want to pay the 30k+ she generally sells for. And Bon Cool has always been pretty cool; they gave me an extra Homura at one time.

Yeah, it sold at C83. It's pretty good, but I've liked some of his previous covers more, and I'm generally bored of Tony' work. I'll still probably pick it up if finances allow within the preorder range (probably not), but I'd likely rather have the Seven Wonder cover that went up for sale.

None exist as far as I can tell; anko didn't post any sample images and none of the sellers have taken the liberty of opening them to figure it out. Unfortunately, I purchased one for a good buyout price before I realized that there were two versions. The seller didn't list the version, so hopefully my copy doesn't have a penis.

Wasn't me. I've run into the same thing a few times, where it was either SMJ bidding or Yokatta/Rinkya.

And there are so many recently released Asuna covers that it's hard to keep track of them all. o.O

You didn't pick up the awesome Udon-ya eye patch by chance, did you?

Yeah, I could tell it wasn't SK Suede by the display picture, so the chances of it being roika/tricot were pretty good (assuming they didn't just use a previous display shot, which happens from time to time.) I think it's pretty similar with Anko, too; most of their covers feature a spread of some sort, but those that don't aren't anything too special in the genital area.

I bought that cover within 5 minutes of it being posted... everything worked out quite well when they finally invoiced me considering it was from Grandchaos and they don't add a lot of covers to the English site, and that pretty much all of the Marks/Anko stuff sells out within minutes of being posted. I flip flopped on the Mikuru for a good 5-10 minutes (with a few other covers, too) before I decided against it. The Tachibana cover was still pretty good, but the changes to the "limited exclusive" version compared to the other versions were pretty minimal and a bit disappointing. Especially considering how different/extreme some of their other exclusives have been.


I have a copy of both of the Nymph covers, so I forget which is which. My favorite is definitely the Tsundere version, though. It's a shame that her uniform is blocking some of the bits (but not much)and her facial expression more than makes up for it.

More than a little jealous right now. Are those Marks covers from Mandarake? I had considered the Haruhi cover (I forget her name) when they added her, but didn't have the money to spend for a cover I didn't want that much. How is the new Nymph version? It didn't look too much different from the other versions, other than a slightly different expression, so I'm happy with the ones I have.

The Evening Call covers, on the other hand. If there were any covers I would have liked to ordered doubles of, it would have been their C83 lineup. Not so much because the covers are fantastic (they are), but the 1500 experience a piece would have been really nice to have. As it is, I was only able to order 1 Fate.
