First series that comes to mind as being in danger of this is Naruto, but im sure there's plenty other series among the nominations that doesn't sit well with some of the people in charge of picking out characters.
Of course we won't judge people on the anime they're from; we're judging the character themselves. I mean, Kakashi is from a shitty show but he's damn manly, same goes with a lot of characters.
