In the instances of female deities, they are usually focused on specific things. Its logical to assume that God, if there is one, is male because males have qualities that are, for the most part, considered overbearing.
Or those who "designed God" were overbearing males who saw those features as Godlike. Don't get me wrong, I'm religious but I simply believe the God organized religions tend to follow is more a creation of man than reality. It doesn't make the message wrong.
