Welcome to the forums have a fabulous, crabulous stay. Whoop whoop whoop! *skuttles back to writing and fan-fiction*
Although I usually end up being the less aggressive one in the bedroom, I somehow end up taking lead most of the time, although my easygoing attitude makes me cool with just about anything. The only person to totally take control no questions asked no concerns heard was the girl I was with in the Army, she was in charge and didn't care what I said otherwise.
Freedom Faction RP
Setting: US, year 2017. Following the unanimous passage of the American Freedoms Act individual liberties are compromised for enhanced national security following a string of seemingly unconnected terrorist acts by an unknown organization. The legislation is a convoluted string of new laws which in essence establish a system of martial law. Opposition of the new laws were systematically and quietly silenced as anyone opposing the government mysteriously vanishes. Opening setting is the area immediately surrounding Washington DC. Play will take place along the Eastern Seaboard mostly in the cities of New York, Washington DC, Arlington Virginia and Tampa Florida.
NPCs: Jon Boyd, a novelist and the leader of the Freedoms Faction. A quiet man and former soldier Jon leads the group though a series of proxy channels and is almost never seen by anyone outside of the proxies. Forrest Browning: a drug dealer and black market vendor. Browning is a boisterous individual with a short temper and a .45 on him at all times. David Mason, a computer wizard shut-in with an eccentric nature and a slight case of paranoia. Michael Winchester, a red-neck who is the self-professed best friend of Jon. An extremely good shot and a card carrying member of the former NRA (which has been declared an illegal organization by Congressional ruling at this point). A tall lanky man with a sharp wit (contrary to most red-necks) and an over-abundance of sarcasm. "Murphy" Winchester, Michael's wife and a blunt yet shrewd woman who is only second in marksmanship to her husband. Michael "fat-man" Robinson, a heavy weapons enthusiast and mechanical genius (although he has no formal training and can't identify any part to save his life). Other NPCs will be introduced later throughout the story, however those are the plot essential NPCs.
Here are the completed and twice amended rules I came up with.
Rules:
Activity:
There will be a set limit/minimum of activity per day as decided by the availability of the players setting timeframes for each set of activity when players submit their courses of action (ie, once every 4 hours, shorter or longer) so no player is excluded.
Plausibility: players operate under an assumption of plausibility, if it can't happen in real life it will be ruled as an invalid action and will be disregard.
Capture/death: If a player is captured by authorities within the next 5 rounds of play they must either be rescued by the other players or submit an escape plan to me via pm. If it is ruled as valid the player can resume play once an opportunity to logically reencounter the group is established. Upon a player's death they are considered dead for the remainder of the RP and the slot is opened up for another player to join. Players in standby will be placed in order of requests via pm, first come, first serve. If a player in standby does not reply within 3 rounds of play they forfeit their slot and must resubmit to be considered for play again. The slot will be awarded to the next player in line if a slot is forfeited.
NPCs:
Killing plot valuable NPCs is not allowed, however nonessential NPCs are considered extendable.
Playing for other players:
Unless control of a character is relinquished to another player via pm other players cannot control characters they don't stake a claim in. Unless a timeframe is indicated in the message control is assumed indefinite until the player rejoins the RP.
Skipping rounds:
Although skipping rounds is permitted, skipping 5 consecutive rounds will be considered leaving the game and I will kill off your character.
This is all I see as necessary as far as gameplay rules are concerned.
Sample character sheet
Name: Johnathan Boyd
Occupation before the faction: Novelist
Weapon of choice: M16A2 rifle, standard military issue
Sidearm: Springfield M1911 .45 acp staggered magazine
Typical clothing: jeans, T-shirt, baseball cap, never the same one twice though, usually NHL
Appearance: Classified, only proxies see him personally. Only detail known is green eyes
Role within the faction: Leader
Additional skills: paramedic trained, former soldier, talented speaker and a best-selling author, in spite of the public never having seen him (the manuscripts for his novels are delivered random people directly to publishers)
Interesting fact: types all orders to the faction on a mechanical typewriter from the early 20th century.
Opening setting will best established once all players submit their character sheets and coordinate a timeframe for activity.

Duct tape and zip ties are only getting me so far... splicing in headphone wires into my electrical system is getting it started, for now, but I'm going to have to venture out of town for the parts I need. By 22:00US Eastern standard time I'll post the character sheet template and announce the slots. The RP will officially begin at 22:30. Barring any unforeseen difficulties I'm eager to get started.
Unforeseen motor troubles are postponing this a day. Sorry, but I need my transportation to pay my bills...

It was. I have my reasons.

This sounds interesting, I'll give it a try whenever you start this15 is way too many.... one must get at least 10 as maximum. And I might join if I see MORE details and information on the first post.
I'm still working on the specifics (banking on having another day before the minimum is met) but what else would you want to know specifically?
What I want to see on the opening post of this thread are:
- More rules.
- More information and details about the premises; as in cities, places, etc. Because everyone doesn't live on the U.S.
- Guidances about the character sheets and profiles.
- Some text about the slots too.
For a free-form type RP, I can't think what else might need to be added, I'm probably missing something here, but I'd probably write about all of those.
Am I expecting too much from a cell phone user? You can ditch my post if you want.
Dude, I haven't had a computer in a year now, I'm proficient and then some with this. For character sheets, I'll you're it up in my phone 's word processor tomorrow morning. I chose DC because anyone who played Fallout 3 has a general idea of DC's layout. Other locations are New York City (Crysis 2 anyone?), Tampa (port city similar to most), Arlington VA (mostly a well trimmed city that holds the Pentagon. This RP will only take place along there eastern seaboard of the United States and it will usually stick to the major cities.
More rules, black market deals are only to be done though drug dealers, players cannot do the impossible, when your character dies, too bad you just opened a slot for a new player. If no new players arrive create a new character and resume playing. Time passes according to the amount of activity, ie transpiration will seem instantaneous unless dialog is exchanged, skills advance though playing however type-building your character is recommended and playing by your strengths. Once wanted you cannot remain outside for long periods of time without risking capture. Captured players cannot play until their character is released, escapes, is rescued or dies. Orders from Jon are considered guidelines however if goals are not met you will lose favor from him. Leadership and a chain of command are optional. No killing of plot important NPCs. That ought to cover the basics you asked for.
As for slots, I don't know many users yet so I'll try first come, first serve. You have a slot if you want.

As for 15, I can manage, it'll just be a pain in the ass, but if I managed to complete an RP at Basic Combat Training for the US Army between 23 soldiers from memory alone (leave no evidence for the Drill Sergeants to find) I[ I]can[/i] do it. Do I want to? Hell no! New plan, Max 10.

I'm an American too. I might join, I just need to think about it.Do you have a larger plot on what you would have the players work towards?
A coup. Overthrow the oppressive government and restore the US of A back to what it was supposed to be. Jon will provide direction, but how players approach it is open to them. I'd rather have people get creative and see what they can come up with.

@OP Ok, I am sorry but you had that one comming. Too many red flags.I had this awful abusive/controling relationship with this guy for a few years. He basically tried to tell me what I could and could not do. When I tried to break up with him he threatened to kill himself. Yeah after months of being really flipping unhappy I finally started to see other people, thus cheating on him. Finally he fucking broke up with me. (YESSS)
Yeah I was young and naive...

I realize, that's the idea behind it. I'm American myself you know. If you want in you're welcome to join.
I was working on this idea and I'm not sure if anyone will want in on it.
[Edit] if this is considered offensive to people hosting other RPs I will gladly with until they're over and repost it then. I'm not out to steal anyone's thunder.

Rules/Guidelines: Everything must be plausible and be rooted in what a human, normal human, is capable of. Weapons are only limited to what can exist, not necessarily what does exist, however there must be a plausible explanation of how you got it. Shots will miss, weapons will jam and infections can happen. Outside of that be creative and have fun with it.
If you'd like to give it a shot let me know and I'll get started on it.

It's cool, I was just saying that there already is a thread like this and to check before posting. I don't mind, but I had a few people get irritated with me for doing that before. If I didn't notify you I didn't want you to find out the unpleasant way is all.
