That episode was to painful to watch. I skipped through round 15ish minutes of it... If this is how the entire series is going to be I might as well become Amish.

Basically what I said at the ep discussion.
The good things in Higurashi ended with season 1 for me and the story was all but concluded. This meant that my expectations were low and my memory of quality episodes - a bit clouded, allowing me to actually enjoy this ... to an extent. It was nice to see some characters in action again though lack of knowledge about them would have made this mediocre at most.
The next OAVs are meant to be story-driven BTW.

Damn. I haven't seen the first episode yet, but I'm hoping the skipping you did didn't screw with the awesome parts... I was looking forward to this.

I don't understand - since the very beginning, every single Higurashi arc started with a lolrandum xD / funny / club activities episode. Well, isn't it the same thing here? We get to see every single important character from the cast (even Hanyuu, damnit) in a fun situation. I seriously don't get it.
After so much time, I finally got to see the characters again and fully enjoyed it. Which of course doesn't mean I won't enjoy the story-driven episode - but this was just the "totally unrelated" episode and that was perfectly fine by me.
/e : Also, about the Umineko anime, it will suck - play the games and you'll know why. Oh, by the way, they are awesome and being actively translated. No excuses.

Thats a good point I hadn't thought of that. I mean she did imagine the doctor being Irie so why is it hard to believe that she imagined Rena freaking out? Personally I thought it was Rena being like "What the fuck are you joking about something like that for?" ya know but that makes much more sense.
