Synopsis
I thought the series was pretty good. It had a lot of action in it, but the ending kinda makes me think of another season because on the OVA dvd specials they have, what looks like, a teaser trailer for a new season.
I could be wrong though, all in all I liked it. What do you guys think?

It was okay, if it wasn't for the action, the babes, the fanservice, and Meg getting into damsel-in-distress situations. Honestly, the plot was somewhat lacking, and they completely written off the cook boy by like episode 6 or somewhere near there and onwards.

I agree with g-money on his points. When the series first began, I really enjoyed it. The story was being told from Kyo's point of view, which was pretty much the audience's point of view as well, and it was an interesting look into this new world. After a while, though, Kyo was all but forgotten and the entire narrative direction changed. I think that really threw a wrench into the works for me. They completely dropped the interesting integration of Kyo into the team dynamic and changed it into some kind of conspiracy show. Not really good writing. It's a shame because that part of it was all that kept me from wanting to punch Meg in the face for getting captured in EVERY DAMNED EPISODE.
At any rate, it was an OK show that fell flat about half way through. There wasn't anything really new or unique about the storyline. The characters were cute enough and I was a huge Sei fan. The ending, however, was horrible simply because it was entirely unnecessary. In the end I can't really recommend this anime.

I saw it some ages back, and I agree with g-money and Sunquan. I'm normally pretty lenient about plot holes, and forgiving of weak plots, because some people cannot write for shit, but this show...
I watched all of it just to see if I could, and my final verdict, in complete honesty, amounted to

Seems there are a lot of fakku member that agree with me. The first Kyo perspective is kinda good , with a love interest possibility then suddenly its like waking up from dream where he is dissapeared all of a sudden from the main plot. Sigh, not good and bad

I don't remembre the ending. Maybe I should watch it again and then give my opinion, instead of now when I haven't seen it for years.

@SunQuan: Glad to know someone who agrees with me. I liked Meg getting into damsel in distress situations, but happening in every other episode if not every episode was a bit too much. You're right in that the series just seemed to take off in a different direction halfway, which reminds me of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and like NGE, the conclusion just sunk.

Just so you know don't think of me as the kind of guy who only watched it just for the action and not the story.
I agree with everyone that the story went downhill after episode 6 and Meg, a word of advice to you, even though your a fictional character I don't care, it's fun to play the damsel in distress the first two times, but after doing it fourteen times... you're just overdoing it.

I don't blame anyone for trying to get into this series without knowing anything about it. Ugetsu Hakua's character designs are just gorgeous. The man knows how to draw women, that's for damned sure. The hot girls + cool mecha action formula has never gone wrong when it comes to drawing in an audience. Even though I was irritated at Meg's character, seeing the first four episodes at an anime con was enough to get me to invest in the entire series.
It just didn't live up to it's potential, pure and simple. There was too much left unsaid in the beginning, especially about Jo's past, that they had to rush to put in at the end. Too much of it just didn't make sense. Sure, I get that Sei couldn't get rid of Meg or Jo would leave, too, but if the girl keeps getting captured, WHY SEND HER OUT ON MISSIONS?! Let her stay in the truck.
As for the ending...
So, like I said earlier, a lot of wasted potential

It's been awhile since I saw this series, but I think you've hit it on the nail with your analysis. The ending to me just didn't make sense... trying to put conspiracy and a past together just doesn't mix.

Wait a miunte... wasn't this show all about Meg and Sei's boobies? I prefer the latter though. And not forgetting the loli (Amy) who acts cute from time to time. :D
Despite the criticism, there are some positive aspects to Burst Angel, at least in my opinion. Apart from the fanservice, which I always think is good for all anime titles, the action and fight sequences did catch my attention. Perhaps it could be due to the fact that I don't watch all that many action-themed anime. With limited exposure, even the simplest of action scenes may seem elaborate to me.

I'm a pretty harsh critic when it comes towards anime, and it usually needs character development, plot progression, and exposition. Even if the animation was mediocre and the music was okay and the voice-acting wasn't the best, as long as those three elements were done well, that's what makes a good anime. Out of the three elements I mentioned, Burst Angel fails in the plot progression and the character development was all over the place, like dropping the cooking boy character altogether and then becoming a Meg and Jo show. I couldn't honestly watch this and say it was a good anime, rather it had some redeeming features that can cover up it's own shortcomings to an extent. If I were to draw an example, the recently ended To Aru Majutsu no Index series is similar to how I feel with Burst Angel, except that TAMnI fails in plot progression and exposition instead of character development.

Oi, Oi. Index wasn't that bad...
Well...fuck. Yeah. But I still enjoyed it.
Anyway, mentioning Meg's tendency to get captured at this point would be like pouring gasoline on a forest fire, so I'll leave that one alone.
I don't really think the action sequences in this one were all that good, myself. The animation is fluid, with very few if any art fuckups, but most of the action scenes essentially boiled down to:
1) Draw Guns
2) Glare
3) Backflip
4) Pull trigger a lot.
And the mech came out...what, once? Twice? Sure, the fight scene was entertaining, but it wasn't good. Adequate.
Honestly, if you want Mechs and Action, go watch Blue Gender or Full Metal Panic, or even Gundam.

Me too, but it's just that TAMnI could've been a great anime with a more sensible plot and exposition, the same that could go for Burst Angel in terms of character development and plot progression.

I totally agree with you on this point. The mechas were also ugly, and to me it just seemed that the producers wanted to portray girls with big guns, big attitudes, and big mechas as the selling point.

I only watched it because I thought that it was hentai (the vendor told me that it was porn but didn't looked like it on the cover but anyway it's cheap so I bought it) and was dismayed when it wasn't. It's okay... but the ending's way too errr... I can't explain well.... rushed??? or something like that
