Iron Man Anime

Its Christmas in July! Marvel and Madhouse just announced and released 2 teasers for a 4 part series of anime movies featuring Marvel superheroes. The first two teasers are for Ironman and Wolverine and I am all hyped up which, if you’ve been reading Dark Diamond for a while, you’d know it’s no easy task.
The films are supposed to redesign “popular Super Heroes redesigned and repurposed as emerging from the fabric of Japanese culture” and from the teasers you’ll know they are serious about this. The project is slated for spring 2010 and oh boy it cant come soon enough. Watch both teasers and my take on them after the break.

It's an interesting collaboration, I hear Tatsunoko and Marvel are also teaming up, hopefully more projects like this will be done in the future.

I'm not so sure about this? I have seen a couple American animations turned Japanese and they have sucked; like Gotham Knight while sweet all together the anime episode was terrible.
So while I won't say I hate the idea yet, I will say I'm a little worried about it sucking horribly.

If MADHOUSE is behind this, all the more reason for me to watch it.
I've also seen "Wolverine"'s trailer as you recommended but I was somewhat disappointed to see a Japanese version of him... though you've mentioned about the Jap-culture-i-zation beforehand, I didn't expect his appearance to be so (completely) different from the original short-height, overly buff, and ill-tempered berserker of Marvel's X-men.
Btw, I don't care how serious they are about these movies, all I'm looking forward to is some ACTION; awesome animation, accompanied by a worthwhile storyline.
I don't discriminate. Making Anime, may it be a TV series, an OVA, or a movie is always a serious business to all of the creators out there. And as someone who watches it, we must show some respect and learn to appreciate their works (or at the very least, learn how to STFU!).
For some reason, this phrase really irked me. It's as if you're implying (I know you're not, but still) that the production of other animes aren't taken so seriously. I wouldn't mind it however if you were only thinking of Haruhi's 2nd season when you said that. (good thing I haven't seen it beyond episode 1)

For some reason I'm not to hyped hearing about "redesigning" iconic American characters in Japanese flavor (even though I have ample of respect towards Madhouse as well). It's really easy to harm an image that has matured for years in a completely different cultural background.
Also makes my thoughts drift towards the Devil May Cry anime ... an already established character + great animation don't necessarily guarantee success...

This one looks like it could actually work well.
The Wolverine one looks like it'll go the way of the Witchblade series, where the only similarity is in the names.

The beardless Tony Stark promo poster image is now forgiven due to this awesome fight scene and teaser trailer.

If they stay true to the character of tony stark, then I'd approve.
But off the bat this gets -5 points for a beardless tony promo poster.

First episode is out.
So, Zodiac will be the main villians of this season. Scorpio was made quick work...
Black Sabbath nod in the naming of the newest suit.
Tons of anime cliches.

Just finished the first episode. It's not bad. At least they didn't really change the character of Iron Man/Tony Stark. He's still the same egotistical, womanizing, genius of a billionaire that I grew to love. They even gave some backstory as to why he's in Japan.
The only thing bothering me is that I'm not quite used to seeing a franchise that I practically grew up with being in a different language/nationality. It's kind of interesting, but at the same time I'm curious to see who the English VA will be when they start dubbing the show.
