Summer Wars
0
When timid eleventh-grader and math genius Kenji Koiso (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is asked by older student and secret crush Natsuki (Nanami Sakuraba) to come with her to her family’s Nagano home for a summer job, he agrees without hesitation. Natsuki’s family, the Jinnouchi clan, dates back to the Muromachi era (1336 to 1573), and they’ve all come together to celebrate the 90th birthday of the spunky matriarch of the family, Sakae. That’s when Kenji discovers his “summer job” is to pretend to be Natsuki’s fiance and dance with her at the birthday celebration. As Kenji attempts to keep up with Natsuki’s act around her family, he receives a strange math problem on his cell phone which, being a math genius, he can’t resist solving. As it turns out, the solution to the mysterious equation causes a bizarre parallel world to collide with Earth, and it’s up to Kenji and his new fake family to put reality back in order.
From the director of "the girl who leapted through time."

I believe I've already expressed my interest for this movie not so long ago. Anyways, when it comes to animes, I've got all the "patience" that I need; no sweat, a year will come by so quickly and before I know it, I already have seen it.
Also, MADHOUSE STUDIOS (speaks for itself)

Hahaha, I can wait for this. Got all the time in the world.
Seeing that it's by the people that made "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", I'm hoping that this is as good, or better.

What happened to the other thread for this? :/
Anyway, good movie, but the subs I was watching were done over some Korean hardsubs, so part of the bottom of the screen was more or less black with text for the majority of the movie. I'd definitely give it a watch though. In fact, I might go watch it again this weekend...

Although my friend has downloaded a copy, I still went ahead to catch Summer Wars at the local movie theatre.
Summer Wars has definitely lived up to its numerous positive reviews. The various avatars found in the online world of OZ are cute and sometimes cool, especially in the case of King Kazuma. Although quite a number of family members are featured, they do get their own fair share of screentime, but unfortunately, character development does take a back seat with such a huge cast. The jokes can be found in a typical anime, but they still bring an amused smile to one's face. Most importantly, the storyline tends to bring out the emotions of its viewers, from the happiness found in merry-making all the way to sadness due to the loss of a loved one.
As long as you are an anime otaku, you will definitely enjoy Summer Wars. Don't hesitate to purchase a movie ticket or fork out your money for the DVDs and Blu-rays; you will not regret it.
P.S. Did I mention that Natsuki (female protagonist) is rather pretty? :)

I enjoyed this movie. Though it could have been better, it was still decent enough.

Why did I wait so long to watch this movie? It really is Digimon: Our War Game without the Digimon. Which means I thought it was really good.

Although downloads for Summer Wars are readily available, I made it a point to purchase the DVD, as a form of support. That being said, moar Natsuki is always good.
