So i checked the master list and i didn't see threads for the Suikoden games witch I think is a very good game series.
I used to sit and play Suikoden 2 with my friend and we got all the characters and plans for the statue in the castle and we had every good item you would want to have and of course maxed out our favorite characters.
So lets discuss, what do you think about these awesome games.

One of my all-time favourites!
Too bad the US version is so damn pricey, but the JP one is just fine for me.
Nonetheless, Suikoden 2 is one of a few games with really good replay value IMO.
Totally love the cook-off challenges, I'd even buy a standalone game based on that.

I think this is on the PSN for $10 or something like that. I was thinking of d/ling it sooner or later, maybe when there's a really long dry spell of good games coming out?

If you named him Tir in Suikoden 1, he will be TcDohl...
so naming him an "M" us better. lol

SUIKODEN 2 = GREAT TIMES
my first "real" RPG game
kinda flunked my first play, since I neglected Gordon (The Trader) and only got 107 characters.
but then again...going back and forth to Toran Republic is one GIANT hassle...

One of my favorite games!
The U.S. version is extremely expensive to buy new. New games on Amazon are going for 350$. Even more than I remember them being.
I ended up downloading the game, burning it to a CD with a print label on it, and printing the CD image on it so it looks almost real. But of course it will only play on a modded system or with an emulator.
Too bad though...but great game anyway!

Ugh, I got too much to say that it's not coming out....
So, I'll just post this instead.

Rune of Beginning, what makes this game so grandly epic.

Fuckin black-out, and just when I was about to hit the post button!
Anyways, this was a pretty enjoying game to play in the old days. :D Brings back memories of my other favorite rpgs like the Legend of Dragoon, FFVIII, and Lunar2.
As for completion, I just wasn't able to complete Clive's side quest the first time I played... and never did. Actually I still have my ps1 with the save file of the new game I restarted which I stopped playing right around the middle of the story.
I also haven't collected all of those Karen statues/figures. For the love of God, those dance steps are such a pain in the ass to follow!
Ultimately, I always end up That's just how much I hate him that no matter what I do, there's only but that one option to choose from. :D

well, you can change that by:
1. Promising him at the waterfalls to come back there.
2. have 108 characters before attacking L'renouille
3. by always defending in the final duel. Leknaat will come and heal Jowy.
and the ending.....
I won't spoil it.

But I wonder...what happened to the 2 runes in the good ending? Just stay like before?
Then the normal ending is far better....at least, Riou got much more powerful.

Suikoden 2, that brings back wonderful memories... and some that I still try to bury in the deepest recess of my being. Greenhill forest, what a pain. At least the republic wasn't bothersome if you knew what do beforehand.

The gesture was nice but unnecessary really. I know exactly what I needed to do... that being to defend, defend, defend, defend, defend, until Leknaat arrives in which I forgot the details of what happened before just that. The last thing I remember is being made to choose between this and this, leading to the same response over and over again from Jowy who clearly wants to die anyway so in the end I dealt him the finishing blow he had wanted. Oh the drama! And I thought it has got something to do with how you'd react/respond to the sequence before Nanami has been * spoiler *
Plus, like I said, I abhor him! The Black Sword Rune should have been the hero's and not his. Most importantly, Nanami likes him (or so I think) and thus I simply cannot forgive him... In any case, I'm quite aware of what will happen in case the good ending was achieved.

Black Sword should've been Riou's? Hmm...I don't think so...I mean, Riou's got lower MAG than Jowy, so he'll get Hungry Friend pretty late, at which stage Thor Shot will do fine.
Plus, since I'm kinda lazy to train...I can't even count how many times Battle Oath saved my ass in boss battles....
Sure....Black Sword is infinitely cooler, but considering how things are...Bright Shield is better.
Or...maybe Konami should remake this game, with the option to choose which rune you get. Of course I want the story to be very different if the other rune was chosen.

lol. aside from Riou having low MAG, the runes were almost like they were inherited from their "fathers".
Genkaku-->Riou
Han---> Jowy
both was of them was best friends until war separates them. :)
And How would you feel if Riou inherits the same Rune that his adopted father had. :)

Aren't we all lazy when it comes to leveling up? It would have been better if there were some liquid metal slimes floating around somewhere...
Well, I'm not seriously saying that the Black Sword Rune would have been better off for Riou or whatever. That comment was more of like a personal preference of mine; being an rpg gamer who focuses more on the overall attacking power of my selected party than of defensive support.
And I do very well remember and understand the whole goddamn plot. No need to remind me there.
quite a confusing question... hmm, nothing cause he already did inherit it in the first place, sort of thanks to (his) "destiny". I also can't seem to wear his shoes so I have no idea; I can't relate to him all that much (because he's mute) unlike how I can with Jowy (though I hated his guts, I did understand him).

Hmmm...now that I think about it...Genkaku and Han were already buddies even before the war right? Then what made them accept those runes? For Riou and Jowy it's pretty much because they can't live on if they remain powerless...but for those two?
And of course this is assuming Han and Genkaku know that true runes are not exactly the best thing to get involved with....

for the country? hard to think so...
i mean, they should already be strong enough even without the runes. and there's the rune's will, too...
